 Namibia announced that Namibian born singer & songwriter Jeffrey Rukoro will be representing the country at Own Africavision Song Contest 07! There’s no quarterfinal right? I think that will depend on the amount of participants, but since there are around 45 participants every edition I don’t think a quarterfinal will take place. |

The British-Tanzanian pop R&B singer will represent the country in the 7th edition of the contest. He was inspired by Jimi Hendrix as well as the R&B, soul, jazz, reggae and hiphop genres. His interest in creating music started when he was 14, where he started writing his own music and when he was at university, he started performing. After finishing university, he began doing music as a career and became successful after winning a The Breakthrough Act of the Year award at Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Awards. This led him to being a support act for the likes of Lianne La Havas, Laura Mvula, Leon Bridges and Michael Kiwanuka. He is also an ambassador for the mental health charity, CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), due to his own experiences with mental health problems and being open about it in his lyrics and interviews.
In the contest he will perform his song ...
"Need Somebody to Love"

SENEGAL CONFIRMS
After coming up from a spectacular edition in  Mauritius where Diarra Sylla carried us to a 19th place along with  Melanie Thomas, there were some rumors about a withdrawal as Senegalese broadcaster STSD took some time to confirm but our HoD   stated:
"We took some time as we're talking with some of our artist in our country and in the exterior, because we like to have our options ready when we confirm our participation, but as we said before, a Senegal's withdrawal is unlikely in the coming editions"
STSD is still in the way of finding that act that will represent the nation in Madagascar, but rumors say that a past representative could be returning or a diaspora artist is in their list |
