BERMUDA'S ENTRANT REVEALED!
Hamilton, 28 July 2022 After the unfortunate result of Jo-1 and Fisherman in last edition's quarterfinal, we have decided to go for a different route in the Own Americavision Song Contest 15. We probably say that a lot but hopefully this time it would be worth the attempt. Introducing...
Bassette Born in Bermuda, Bassette’s career has been built upon a compelling bedrock of twists and turns. Her family relocated to Scotland, a world away from the big, colourful houses of Bermuda and the generations of her family who continue to live on the island. It’s here – among the frozen moorlands of the UK’s northernmost country – that she first shared her voice.
She was first introduced to the wider world of music through a collaboration with soulful electronic DJ Joe Hertz. The frankly huge “Playing For You” is a warm fusion of nostalgic R&B and deep electronica, all underpinned by Bassette’s commanding vocal – evident of her ability to navigate between genres while also retaining a strong, recognisable presence.
Prior to this announcement, the Bermudian delegation has called on for well-acclaimed juries from all over the Americas to share their input on the six songs shortlisted from Bassette's discography. Juries from Grenada, Honduras, Puerto Rico, and Curaçao have discussed and made their comments to which a certain favourite has emerged.
"Suffocating" Bassette
m/l: Kristina Bassett, Chris Hutchings TIMESLOT: 2:38+ RV: can't edit one so it would be lovely if someone could make an edit with this video
While all of the shortlisted songs have gotten some positive comments by a jury or two, "Suffocating" from Bassette's debut EP Midnight Sound has gotten the most positive critiques overall.
"Suffocating" hopes to charm the viewers as much as it charmed the juries (except for one apparently) with its dramatically haunting electropop/R&B sound paired with emotional lyrics describing a toxic relationship.
The Bermudian delegation is now making preparations for their performance in Montego Bay that will hopefully give the audience a gagging.
Best of luck to Bassette in Jamaica!

Costa Rican Entry
It's been a tough desicion for the new Costa Rican HoD, SINART had some options to send as our first representative with the new directive, and in the end we decided that we're gonna send to Jamaica:
Colornoise
Colornoise is the name of an experimental noise rock band from Costa Rica. Made up of Sonya Carmona and Alison Alvarado, this group has released two albums: Fake Apocalypse (2011) and Polychronic (2013).
They have played in important events in their country, such as the Imperial Festival 2012, the Switch festival! 2012 and Transitarte 2013; they have also gone out to play in Guatemala, El Salvador, Brazil, and the NXNE and Indie Fest festivals in Toronto, Canada.
"Amalie" by ColorNoise
Replacement Video: TS:0:00+
“Amalie”, which was recorded on Conquista Records and explores the process that the girls have been experiencing by having a third member, brings new ingredients and textures to the mix of the band's sound.
Good luck to everyone

CANADIAN ENTRY REVEAL1 August 2022 • Montréal, Canada After a spectacular edition in Toronto, where our Windsor girlie Flower Face placed 2nd, nearly snatching the crown for the 3rd time, Canada is of course more than happy to continue participating and showcasing the best of the Canadian and Québecoise music scene.
This edition, we will be returning to Jamaica. After a break of 3 editions, we are returning to the French language as we can announce that Klô Pelgag has agreed to represent the great northern country in Jamaica!
Klô Pelgag is the stage name of Chloé Pelletier-Gagnon, who was born in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Québec. She began her career in 2009 and released her first EP in 2012. Her first full-length album, L'Alchimie des monstres was released in 2013. She won the Félix Award, given by the Association du disque, de l'industrie du spectacle québécois annually to those working in the music & humour industry in Québec. Her album was nominated for Francophone Album of the Year in 2015. Her most recent album, Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs (eng. Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows) was released in 2020 and was shortlisted for the 2021 Polaris Music Prize.
CBC chose Chloé to once again showcase a different side of the Canadian & Québecois music scene. The country is automatically qualified to the final, thus the broadcaster felt it was the perfect time to send this artist, especially considering she has applied to represent Canada in the past. The song we chose for her comes from her most recent album, and is called La maison jaune (eng. the yellow house).timeslot: TBAThis time we really encourage you to listen to the song in full on Spotify, as the recap will not do it any justice.
Bonne chance à Klô Pelgag en Jamaïque! CBC © 2022
