Vidbir 20231. Jerry Heil - When god shut the door
At the first seconds I found it boring and didn't quite see why's there some hype going on. But then it suddenly changed to opera and traditional and I was immediately there. The fact that it's catchy helped that even more lol. The song is very Eurovision imo and let me be honest, but I can see this actually win in
Liverpool.
It's only 2:24 (?) minutes long, but I just hope it won't be extended to the full 3 minutes because that'll probably not do it any justice.
2. Krutb - KolyskovaI'ts a very beautiful song and also has quite some Disney vibes going on. The singer also has a beautiful voice on top of it. On the down side, it's leaning heavily on the boring side and might additionally be a bit too silent.
3. Angelina - Stronger
A good and beautiful song by a girl with a beautiful voice. There's not much more to say lol. If I may still do so, let me say that I wouldn't mind if there were a bit less of those "Oooh-ooooh" parts in the chorus since they become annoying.
Btw. I randomly found out that there's a version in Ukrainian. Idk about other people, but I find that one actually even better.
4. Moisei - I'm not alone
In the beginning it's quite boring, but then its level rises a lot. What unfortunately does too is the annoyance I take in the tone of his voice. Also the lyrics include the headline "I'm not alone" too often.
2014 much?
Overall it's a quite okay entry, but not a winning one imo.
5. 2Tone - Kvitka
Ukraine isn't quite known in male voices in Eurovision - sorry if that's offensive in any way. In this song, however, they're heavily leaning towards the annoying side. With that I'm particularly talking about the chorus. When listening, I was like "Uhm, he could've used a glass of water maybe?"
What else's too mention here? The song as a whole is modern and overall not bad. Its instrumental happens to annoy me at some point.
6. Tvorchi - Heart of steel
I can't really say a lot here. Heart of steel is a standout just because of its genre. And generally it's quite okay to me, but that's about it.
7. Fiinka - Dovbush
Now, this is a difficult one for me. Just like the one above it stands out just for its genre. Personally I'm not quite a fan, though. I'm rather annoyed by it very quickly - in probably every single way lol. Yes, it's modern, but partly too fast to fit everything together. Her voice is rather annoying as well. And the fact that it has at some parts no melody sadly doesn't quite help it either.
I also tried to give her a second chance with thoughts such as "maybe I need to take another listen". I did exactly that a few days later, but then it happened to be never-ending and I had to stop at like 1:20 in. So I'm very sorry, but this is nothing I want or need to hear any more.
8. Oy Sound System - Oy, tuzhu
Oh yeah, it's the well-known mix of modern and traditional sounds.
That may work here, but there are other aspects of the song that I'm not quite into. The singer may deliver the white voice, but why on earth is there also autotune? And as for the song I will have to say that it's got not enough power. Overall I'm sorry, but I've heard this a couple of times, but don't it any more.
9. Tember Blanche - Ia vdoma
The song is not bad, but not very good either. In fact it's just playing in the background - with the same two words aka. the song title being repeated over and over again - without any further disturbance. That'd be alright I guess if only it would come to an end and not just keep going lol ... Btw. her voice might first appear as cute (or trying to at least), but as the song keeps going it becomes just so annyoing ... In the end I had to finish early here as well.
Sorry, but this entry is an absolute disappointment to me ...
10. Demchuk - Alive
I mean, yeah he can sing - and actually pretty well. However the song is just so boring ...
The selection as a whole is quite okay, I guess. Lots of traditional songs, but an imo average musical variety. For example I'm missing something I can actually dance to?
