The participants of Eurosong 2023 and their songs have been revealed today.1. Adgy - Too Good for Your Love 2. Connolly - Midnight Summer Night 3. Wild Youth - We Are One 4. Leila Jane - Wild 5. K Muni & ND - Down in the Rain 6. Public Image Limited - Hawaii
You can listen here:
1. Wild Youth - We Are One He has a special, yet annoying voice - especially when he sings high. The song at first seemed rather underwhelming, but as longer as it went, it became surprisingly good. The theme of the song could be a bit more original, though.
2. Leila Jane - Wild
This is another song that starts off quite boring, but then progresses quite well. In fact I can actually imagine this playing on the radio here.
3. Connolly - Midnight Summer Night When I first read that this was written in 1 night, I was like "yeah this is not going to be good". But it actually turned out to be not amazing, but neither bad. In fact it's a somewhat catchy song - especially the chorus - and I enjoy her voice not gonna lie.
4. Adgy - Too Good for Your Love He has a relatively unique voice, but the song is rather basic and unspectacular with not so much happening.
5. K Muni & ND - Down in the Rain Oh, an actual hip hop song in a Eurovision selection? Now that's a thing. And even more since it's not quite a Eurovision genre and neither what I'd guess a song coming out of Ireland to sound like. Unfortunatley for them, hip hop is not quite my taste and as far as I can tell it's not too good and there's not so much going on. It becomes boring quickly.
6. Public Image Limited - Hawaii I find this song rather weird and not for me at all. Also his voice isn't as amazing as I hoped it to be. Apparently the song is about the vocalist's wife who's living with Alzheimer's. That's a cute meaning. But imo it sadly wasn't done too well ... :/
After the desaster last year's show was, I went into this without too high expectations. But they were absolutely exceeded with me eventually liking 3 / 6 songs. It's also nice to have some variety going on and even more that all the songs sound like they were actually finished!

I enjoy this song, and it's the best Irish entry in years. Overall, it's an for now. We are one is very Coldplay - which isn't too bad. At the same time, its lyrics are very basic. Also, why on earth is the last minute just him repeating "We are one" over and over again?

As far as generic fluff pieces go, it does a good job

Up to a now. It's not the most original song, but I like the anthemic chorus. I also enjoy myself a sing-along tune.
