Today Germany announced to hold an online preselection for the national final. It'll be hosted by Conchita Wurst and Rea Garvey. 15 hopefuls from all over the country are competing for a wildcard in the national selection. The series will begin on 25th January with a new episode airing a few days. The final will be held in a live show on 8th February. The overall German national final "Das deutsche Finale 2024" will then take place in Berlin on 16th February. Hopefully, this will go better than the Clubkonzert in 2014 and 2015.eurovision.tv/story/ich-will-zum-esc-germany

My top 8 of Das deutsche Finale 2024:1. Ryk - Oh boyHis voice is slightly annoying. The song is really good, but I don't fully understand its structure with the sudden build up and abrupt drop. 2. Isaak - Always on the runGood voice Although in the verses he's too shouting. The song has a good bridge and chorus, but sadly the verses are too weak. And btw. I've been listening the full 3:39 version. Since that's too long i hope he scratched the part after the silent one because it becomes messy. 3. Bodine Monet - Tears like rainGood voice The song is quite 08 15, but one can clap along. 4. Marie Reim - NaivIt reminds me of Helene Fischer - Ich will immer wieder. She also sounds kinda similar. I wouldn't mind Germany sending a Schlager, but this song is too basic. 5. Galant - KatzeA creative and unique song, but not for Eurovision. Yet it stands out. The vocalist doesn't really sing that much. 6. NinetyNine - Love on a budgetAn okay-ish song I guess. I've actually no words to describe it further nor to mention what's bothering me. Except for the verses and chorus not really going together. 7. Max Mutzke - Forever StrongThis song is really underwhelming. It's a radio song, but that's it. Max also can't show his vocal capabilities for most of it. 8. Leona - Undream youVery quiet and beautiful ballad, but also so sleepy ... It's honestly a festival at an okay level at most. The songs are not even that bad (I just added 3 / 8 songs on Spotify), just not very competitive. At least Katze (aka at least 1 entry) is not just your everyday radio song. Also why is the amount of songs only 2 / 8?

So apparently, the last entry is Florian with Scars. I haven't heard a studio version yet, but judging from the 3 live performances in yesterday's show, neither of the options was really good ... I wasn't even able to listen to any of them until the end.
So sadly, I have to rank Florian 9th and last in my ranking.

Isaak won. It was highly unexpected if I may say this. Always on the run is not a bad song at all. It's problem is that it's not very Eurovision friendly. Nevertheless a from me for Germany a day later.

It's not fantastic by any means, but the chorus is catchy and the live performance was good.
