Icelandic entry reveal!

RÚV, the Icelandic broadcaster, has just revealed the entry that will represent the Nordic nation in 
Portugal. The broadcaster announced last week during the evening news that the entry would be premiered on RÚV at 14:00 GMT on a special show dedicated to the North Vision Song Contest.This will be the first edition where the HoD,
Snæbjörn Brjánsson, will be working alone since taking over the position of Icelandic HoD. He confirmed beforehand that, once again, a woman was chosen to represent the country in Portugal, and that the entry would be sung in Icelandic. Let's meet our representative!lúpína will represent Iceland!
Nína Solveig Andersen, otherwise known as lúpína, is an Icelandic singer. The 21 year old has roots to Norway through her Norwegian father, although she was raised in Iceland with her entire family and sings primarily in Icelandic. She currently lives and works in Oslo.Although being relatively new to the
Icelandic music scene, she has had some success in her home country and around Europe. She released her first album, ringluð, in 2023, with 9 songs, which she wrote based on personal life experiences to help her understand her feelings better. She has also gotten over 1 million streams on Spotify, which is very impressive for an Icelandic artist, which she has attributed to her TikTok following from abroad.Upon being selected as the Icelandic representative, she becomes one of the youngest representatives for the country. When asked about this in an interview, she stated that:
"Obviously, there's some pressure put on me because of my age, but at the same time I don't really think it makes a difference. Iceland has sent a variety of artists with different levels of experience in music and I am no different."
She went on to state that:
"It is always an honour to represent Iceland anywhere and when I was asked to represent Iceland in the competition, I couldn't refuse. I will do my best for Iceland, but I am more focused on sharing my music & our language on stage and making new connections with a diverse cohort of artists across Europe."
