Borrowing rules
However, borrowing will be allowed for these territories only after the last sovereign state (Costa Rica) is claimed and stricter rules on artists’ “notability” will be applied. (Ex. Mon Laferte will not be allowed for Rapa Nui despite being born in Valparaíso region, as she is presented SCF contests in multiple occasions.) Until then, artists must have some sorts of connections to the territories.

- Songs from ABU Song Festival, Afrivision Song Contest, American Song Contest, (Junior) Eurovision Song Contest, OTI Festival and Turkvision Song Contest, as well as their national selections are not allowed to take part.
- Entries must be selected internally.
- The singer should be from or have some sorts of strong connection with the country.
- A band or a collaboration can represent the country if at least 1/4 of members is from the country. However, for an area from divided country, at least 1 member is allowed, as long as, the member has a strong connection with the aforementioned area.
- Songs can be any length and in any languages, but have to be released after 2010.
- Singers must be at least 16 years old to compete.
- Remixes and alternate versions are allowed as long as the original singer is officially featured or credited.
- Covers are allowed as long as the original song is not globally popular and does not break any other rules. However, we do encourage you to not send covers, if possible.
- Songs that …
- were in the grand final of North Vision Song Contest, Fantasia Contest or Own Song Contests
- finished in top 10 of Binational Music Festival, Fortuna Music Contest or NowNew Music Contest
- Songs have to not be sent in more than 3 Forum contests or 2 Forum contests if both contests are one of the Big 3 contests (NVSC, FC & Own Song Contests).
- We appreciate originalities and freshness of music industry, therefore, we are mostly going to reject globally famous or notable artists. We do not want to see Colombia being taken just for Shakira or Kali Uchis to be sent, for example. This rule will not be applied to nations with smaller industries.
