We won't be alone in the night! Reykjavik, 31st March 2024
RÚV, the Icelandic broadcaster, is now ready to reveal their entry for the upcoming edition of North Vision Song Contest, to be held in Budva.
The country held a national selection, IJBOL, to select the next Icelandic representative. 10 songs competed, but only 1 could be victorious in the end. With that being said, let's meet our representative! You can probably guess by the title of this post who it is, but she won our selection with 272 points.
Svala Björgvinsdóttir, otherwise known as SVALA, is no stranger to the Icelandic music scene. She released her first single, which brought her to stardom in Iceland, known as The Real Me back in June 2001. She comes from a musical family as well, with her father representing Iceland in the fictional contest known as "Eurovision" back in 1995 with the song Núna. Svala herself would go onto represent Iceland in the said fictional contest in 2017 with the song "Paper", but she suffered a diva down moment and did not manage to qualify to the final. However, this did not stop Svala from continuing to make music and indeed, try her luck in the North Vision Song Contest, which she says is the real deal.
Svala is no stranger to the North Vision scene as well. She represented Iceland back in the 25th edition as part of BLISSFUL and sang the song Find A Way. She managed to get a respectable 15th place after being considered a favourite. Svala later tried to represent Iceland in the 30th edition with the song Running Back. She only came 2nd in the selection behind eventual winners Of Monsters and Men. However, this time she came through and will be representing Iceland in Budva after narrowly winning the national selection, IJBOL, over the runners up píla.
When asked about her win in the national selection, Svala stated that:
I'm overwhelmed with joy and pride in winning the national selection and getting the right to represent Iceland in Budva. This is very exciting for me as it will be my second time taking part in the contest and as the girlies and gays know, I love North Vision. So I must thank the Icelandic broadcaster for giving me this opportunity and of course to those who voted for my song in the selection. I'll use my experience from last time to hopefully improve and do Iceland proud! Svala will be singing her song Ein í Nótt (en: "One in the Night") in Budva. This marks the first time since #28-29 that two Icelandic language songs are sent in a row, as lúpína represented us last edition with her song Ástarbréf, sung completely in Icelandic. Take a listen to our entry below! We recommend listening to the song in full as the recap slot doesn't do it any justice.
Timeslot (provisional): 0:28+ (if anyone has suggestions, let me know in DM!) A replacement video will be provided to the council. Additionally, you can listen to our entry on Spotify below:
We wish the best of luck to our queen SVALA in Montenegro! Thanks to everyone who voted in our selection. The grids can be viewed here!

31 March 2024 • PodgoricaSUZANA TOT WILL REPRESENT MONTENEGRO! The Montenegrin national broadcaster RTCG officially announced the winner of the national selection show Crnavizija 43: Suzana Tot! Her song "Crni Djavole" finished in 1st place and will represent Montenegro in the upcoming 43rd edition of the North Vision Song Contest, taking place on home soil in the beautiful city of Budva.
After an extended voting process, 28 countries voted in the selection and gave to the winner a total amount of 240 points, including 9 sets of 12 points. With a margin of 11 points, Ema and Nina Žižić rounded out the top 3.
1:51+
Suzana Tot was born on 11 July 1975 in Podgorica, the Montenegrin capital city. She started her career in 2000 with the release of her first single "Kroj", at the age of 25. Then Suzana became extremely popular through her home country, taking part in multiple music festivals and dropping some chart-topping singles such as "Malo Sutra" and "Blokira". Before finally getting the lucky ticket to the contest, she already took part twice in the Montenegrin selections for North Vision with the songs "Videces Ti" (#30) and "Dvosed" (#41).
The host entry "Crni Djavole" was written by Andrijano "Ajzi" Kadović and Stjepan "Albino" Jelica, who also wrote Mina Vrbaški's hit single "Kama Sutra" which finished in 2nd place for Montenegro in the 39th edition of the North Vision Song Contest. The title translates as "Black Devil", which represents in reality Suzana's ex-husband: after infidelity, she is broken-hearted and begs for him to leave her life so she can be happy again. The music video directed by Suzana herself is as dramatic as the lyrics of the song: be careful who you trust because an angel can also be a black devil.
See you in Budva for the biggest party ever! We hope everyone is ready to immerse in "sweet delirium"...

Svelata l'entry sammarinese! Sammarinese entry revealed! Serravalle, 31 March 2024 After an exciting and long national selection, the small European country has found the next representative for a new edition of the Northvision Song Contest. The "Festival dei Castelli 20" is won by CLARA, she will fly to Montenegro to represent San Marino.
CLARA aka Clara Soccini is a 24-year-old Italian singer born in Varese, she is singer-songwriter and actress. At the age of 16 she also worked as a model. On March 31th, the girl was announced as the next Sammarinese representative in the continent-wide European music competition Northvision Song Contest. In Budva, the big singer will present the country with her song “Diamanti Grezzi”. Clara has already attempted to represent San Marino twice, during FdC 13 (NVSC 36) and FdC 18 (NVSC 41). CLARA was declared the winner of the national selection for the next Sammarinese representative for the contest. She won against other 11 artists (Gemini, Giolì & Assia, Ditonellapiaga, Ginevra Lamborghini, Irene Effe, Hyspida, Betta Lemme, Caleydo, Matilde G, The Sistars & Brenda Asnicar, Federica).
Inside the spoiler the meaning of the song:
The song tells the theme of the continuous and daily re-discovery of oneself, in a universal message that unites all generations. Over time, each of us collects life experiences and relationships that define our identity and at the same time call it into question, giving us the opportunity to always discover new things about ourselves. The only way to live in freedom is to abandon the constant anxiety of disappointing other people's expectations, to treasure failures and to be proud of being just diamonds in the rough, constantly in the process of being worked on.
Cosa siamo noi? Solo diamanti grezzi // What are we? Only rough diamonds Cadono in mille pezzi di una storia sola // They fall into a thousand pieces of a single story Dove andremo poi Se corriamo a fari spenti // Where will we go then if we run with the headlights off Non siamo più gli stessi /// We are no longer the same Non saremo mai quello che poi ti aspetti // We will never be what you expect Oro nei fallimenti, solo diamanti grezzi // Gold in failures, only diamonds in the rough

NORWEGIAN ENTRY REVEALED! Oslo, Norway • 31 March 2024 Another Den Norsken Sangen edition came to an end and NRK is more than proud to present the next Norwegian entry...
KALANDRA • "BARDAGINN" Spearheaded by four Norwegian/Swedish musicians, Kalandra is a band with roots in melancholic Nordic folk and gritty guitars, weaving ethereal melodies into raw and eerie musical landscapes.
Bardaginn derives its name from Old Norse, meaning 'fight' or 'battle,' be it an internal struggle or a confrontation in the real world. The song explores the paradox of life's seeming meaninglessness, yet the inherent human inclination to fight for something, or someone, and how it's a complex and multifaceted aspect of our nature.
Written by Alexander Lykke, Florian Döderlein Winter, Jogeir Daae MaeLand, Katrine Odegard Stenbekk and Oskar Johnsen Rydh - the official Norwegian entry in the North Vision Song Contest 43!

○ RÉVÉRÉES COSMIQUES ○
In a momentous occasion held at the RTBF headquarters in Brussels, Belgium eagerly unveiled its entry for the forthcoming 43rd edition of the North Vision Song Contest, destined to grace the stunning city of Budva, Montenegro. Amidst a backdrop of nostalgia, the Belgian broadcasters fondly reminisced about the euphoria sparked by their previous participation, particularly celebrating the historic milestone of a fully French-language song securing Belgium's place in the finals for the very first time. The success achieved by Pierre de Maere in Portugal ignited a surge of interest among aspiring artists, intensifying the competition for this year's coveted spot. Dedicated panel of music professionals hailing from both Flanders and Wallonia deliberated to select the perfect representative. In an exciting twist, Belgium is set to revisit the French language song formula once more as we proudly introduce you to our next representatives...
Colt is a Belgian electro-pop band created by Coline Debry and Antoine Jorissen. The group was formed in 2018 and released its first song in early 2019 on platforms. Since then, Colt has racked up several million streams and performs regularly in Belgium and France. Antoine has been playing the piano since the age of 5 and studied film music composition at the Conservatoire de Mons. Coline has a background in lyric singing and has participated in numerous musicals from a young age. The duo realized their shared passion for music after completing their secondary education and formed the band in 2018. Colt’s musical style primarily falls into the electro-pop category, but they also explore other genres, including indie and folk. While they initially sang mostly in English, some of their more recent tracks are in French.
Colt have already made waves in the North Vision music scene. Notably, they participated in Belfestival:40. Their captivating performance of "Insomnies" led them to a commendable third-place finish in the national final.
This time, they will perform on the North Vision stage after being internally selected to represent their homeland in Montenegro with the captivating song "Mille vies" (which translates to “A Thousand Lives”). The song serves as a poignant reflection on the human experience. It weaves together surrealistic imagery and introspective lyrics, drawing inspiration from the universe of the renowned Belgian artist René Magritte. In three distinct and dreamlike universes, Colt explores their own journey, hopes, and vulnerabilities.
Through poetic verses, Colt contemplates the myriad paths we traverse in life. Each decision, each twist of fate, represents a fork in our personal multiverse - a thousand lives unfolding simultaneously. Like Magritte’s paintings, “Mille vies” layers symbolism upon symbolism. The mundane becomes extraordinary: a floating apple, a bowler hat, a mirror reflecting infinity. The chorus echoes the duality of existence. It’s an anthem for embracing our complexities. The backstory lies in the band’s personal struggles, triumphs, and the realization that every moment contributes to their evolving narrative. “Mille vies” invites listeners to ponder their own existence, to recognize the beauty in imperfections, and to dance through life’s kaleidoscope of possibilities. Under the slogan of sweet delirium, Colt will unfurl their thousand lives, leaving stardust in their wake 💋
