Our first queen is Maxima XCX ( agni). Marina Satti:this was a cute choice. I mean obviously it fit the mark, but I can’t say it was the best for my taste. You’ve been doing well and it shows but it’s down to the details now. Jojo Siwa:This took me on a JOURNEY, which is exactly what I want from a song that's over five minutes long. Really appreciated the haunted european chateau vibes, and how so many different genres and styles are woven together in this. Excellent discovery! Gail Platt:Definitely one of the more fascinating choices this week! I do feel that I waited really long for something to come out of it, when OPN goes modern classical I feel like I've heard it all before and want to skip, but that beautiful electronic climax certainly earned you some brownie points with me. It definitely felt like a story, as you said. JuPaul:This was a really interesting submission. The song definitely changed a lot throughout and constantly brought something new to the table. I do think it was a little too chaotic at times but overall I really appreciate that you served something out of the box. Andrélle:Honestly I thought this was fantastic!! By far the most interesting choice this week, it really utilized the length of the song and didn't drag at all! Good job!

Second in line, it's Daremyth ( Aglan). Gail Platt:I think this song in itself is alright and it does sound pretty, but with a long song it is so important for the listener to stay engaged. I'm sorry to say I just wasn't engaged with it at all. It felt very samey and after a while I just felt like I was listening to some melodramatic royalty-free music that never really went anywhere. It obviously matches the theme but the length is not justified at all. Jojo Siwa:I really enjoyed the instrumentation of this, a lot, even if it was kinda giving stock music for an Assassin's Creed trailer advert set in Eastern Europe or something. JuPaul:On paper this is something I should like. It's original, it has a lovely instrumental and it's the kind of entry you've done well with before. But listening to it I was kind of bored. It's a cute song but to me the build-up is a little too long and too mellow. Andrélle:I really appreciated the folk/cultural elements but it kinds dragged too much for me. It's a lovely song but after the 2nd minute I was bored. Marina Satti:this is AMAZING. I love Dzivia’s music sm, and this is no exception, by far one of the best songs this week, and you nailed it!!! It’s just so amazing.

Next, we will converse with Miz Bulge Area ( alex(a)bg). Gail Platt:This is what a long pop song should absolutely 100% be in my opinion. Constantly moving, a strong lyrical narrative, new little details that keep coming in and a wonderful memorable chorus. This is 60s and 70s pastiche nailed to a tee; I loved this as I do with any of Weyes Blood's stuff. It is the perfect length of song for what it does, and of course it fits the theme. Very well done!
Andrélle:I thought this was lovely! Beautiful song, maybe dragged a bit at times but still a great choice for me. Marina Satti:Weyes is one of my all time favorite singers ever.. im in love with her, but I need to be as realistic as I can be, and the song wasn’t a strong choice. At such a tight place we are right now, you need to stand out, and unfortunately as much as I hate to say it, this weyes song wasn’t the best choice you could’ve done JuPaul:I'm not a huge Weyes stan and the few of her songs I've known were all very beautiful and masterfully composed, so when you posted this I was expecting a lot. Unfortunately, the song is kind of a snooze. I find it too repetitive and it's just not serving anything interesting. No clue why she made it 6 minutes long but even if it was half as long I wouldn't love it! Jojo Siwa:This easily could have been an email. Like, this song gets into it's little groove in the first 10 seconds and doesn't really do anything else for the next 5 minutes and 50 seconds. I've heard countless songs about lockdown and this one adds nothing new to the discussion, which made it even more annoying to sit through. I get that Ms. Blood is a cult favorite but she's quite long-winded and I know she has better songs than this.

Fourth up, it's Mel A Tonin ( Matt). JuPaul:I remember when this was constantly played on the radio back in the day and I didn't enjoy it. I recognized the song when it started playing (because to me neither MGMT nor "Kids" are household names that I'd remember) and I thought "oh it's this! Maybe it sounds good to me now, 15 years later!" I'm afraid it does not and I still don't like it. I wish I could give you some detailed explanation but I simply don't like it. Maybe the vocals aren't doing it for me but I also just don't find the song very catchy. Jojo Siwa: have always been impartial to this song, I have basically no thoughts about this. It does its job solidly and it doesn't get too repetitive... yeah. Marina Satti: oh this is gold.. this is such an amazing song, which for some reason I never realised was 5+ mins before wow. You literally nailed this im so happy for you. Gail Platt:What can I say? It is an absolute dancefloor classic, with one of the most memorable synth lines in the world. I do feel like the song benefits from being shorter or having a club edit, but I still really enjoy it nonetheless! Andrélle:Best song ever, 10/10

Second to last, we have Estrogennifer ( Alper). Marina Satti:it’s a nice song, but Magdalena has better. On that note, I felt your entry was a bit inoffensive while others stood out more. Still a nice entry nonetheless Andrélle:Really enjoyed this! Great song although could've been a bit shorter. Jojo Siwa:This magdalena bay song is definitely giving magdalena bay. I honestly don't have too much to say about this, it's not a favorite of mine, but at the very least it didn't become redundant as the song stretched on. Gail Platt:It's true that even bops can be over five minutes long too! This is such a fresh choice, it's so groovy, upbeat and has such an irresistible hook, which makes it a clear standout this week. I found myself dancing in my seat for all those five minutes, not to mention it is such a unique take on dance-pop which makes it all the more better. Great choice, well done! JuPaul:This was a good entry! Not necessarily my favorite Magdalena Bay song (truth be told, I don't really love any except "Chaeri") but it's solid. It gives us some changes and it has a nice melody to it, nothing more to say for me.

And finally, Evá Maziková ( Percy Yates). Jojo Siwa:Honestly this really surprised me because I have quite literally never enjoyed an Ethel Cain song before... but this was nice. I really got swept up in the emotions of it. A solid entry for sure! Marina Satti:oh I love Ethel and this is no exception. The song is really really good, and it paid off. It’s such a storyteller through her voice in the song. It’s nice to see you getting it more after two flukes in a row!! Gail Platt:Ethel Cain is very hit or miss for me. I think this song is very beautiful, but just as with much of Preacher's Daughter it overstays its welcome and not even the lyricism can save it. Once I've heard enough of a part of the song, I want it to move on and it just doesn't, and then the loud payoff doesn't really pay out. I still think it's an admirable enough choice, however. JuPaul:Kinda don't understand some of what the others said because to me this kinda sounds like every Ethel Cain song ever ijbol. But I'm not an Ethel fan and don't know many of her songs so maybe I'm just uneducated. Either way, I thought this was a really good submission, I liked the kind of ethereal sound it developed into and it was beautiful. Andrélle:please refer to my critiques for miz, they're the exact same

EPISODE 10 RESULTS • SING-OFF
Daremyth... Miz Bulge Area... two queens stand before me. This is the last chance for you to impress me and save yourself from elimination. Let's listen to your songs. Daremyth | Miz Bulge Area | Dream Wife • "Orbit" | Charli XCX • "Spring Breakers" |
|
|
Ladies, I've made my decision. Miz Bulge Area, shantay you stay. You did good selecting the best brat song xx
Daremyth, you exceeded my expectations this season! You got close to a win a couple times and I kinda wish you had managed to snag one but maybe that's a project for the future! Your sing-off song was intriguing but didn't stand a chance next to the other one I'm afraid. I know Marina will be crying when she reads this decision, but... sashay away.
