Coming in first, we have Miz Bulge Area ( alex(a)bg). JuPaul:Well first things first, this challenge reminded me that I actually don't like minimalist music ijbol. This particular song was the best minimalist song though. Did it leave me gagging? No. But it was a very solid submission, there are many points I liked and I thought it fit the theme well enough Now the second song also fit the theme. Not necessarily the biggest fan of the song, it's nice but nothing amazing. Overall that's how I feel about your performance this week. You checked the boxes but didn't really go above and beyond for me. Still a decent showing though! Marina Satti:oh you are back on top. You left no crumbs in here, it’s a slaughter. The first song is amazing, and the second one is good as well. Congratulations Jojo Siwa:I quite liked Eusexua, but it wasn't quite minimalist enough for me to really think its a stellar pick for this challenge, It's definitely not explicitly unfitting either! Scripture, on the other hand, I didn't care for much at all and hated the mixing even if it's a perfect fit for the category. Overall you did... fine. Maika Monroe:fka twigs - eusexua this is really good! i remember listening to this for the first time and being left disappointed. but wow i guess i just didn’t really appreciate the minimalism in this.
eartheater - scripture oh eartheater the queen you are. i’m a big fan of her music and this song shows exactly what i love about her. what can i say i’ve always been a trinity girly. imo both of your songs really fit the theme. well done

Our second queen is Maxima XCX ( agni). Jojo Siwa:Imogen for minimalist is perfect, and I personally really enjoyed this Yseult song too. Fits the category very well. I also love the irony that this is the same woman who sang Corps. Great work.>. Marina Satti:slay, you ate that, loved both of your entries, but you ate down with that first song. Maika Monroe:imogen heap - hide and seek oh jesus what a beautiful haunting song this is. the acapella style and the way it builds up layer by layer is so mesmerizing. great choice for this theme!
yseult - bitch you could never i did not know yseult was capable of doing this but she did. i really like the production of this song and i love the noise as well. great job! JuPaul:The challenge was to send a minimalist song and you sent Hide & Seek. Obvious choice. Maybe a bit too obvious for me. Seeing this for this category barely gets a reaction out of me, it's like "Ah. Of course. There it is.", which is probably not the best reaction to have. I think it would've been a smarter move to send something surprising this week, seeing as we're at the top 5, instead of sending such a fairly well-known song that has made the Song Race rounds before. Idk why some of the other judges are acting like this is some groundbreaking submission sob. Unoriginality aside, I can't say that I'm a big fan of the song. It's okay. That one viral part is good but the rest is a bit of a slog to get through.
Your second song was better but I wasn't in love with it either. It fits the category but it's not something I'd want to hear again. Not sure this is the right genre for Yseult x

Third up, we have Mel A Tonin ( Matt). JuPaul:Your first entry was kinda the most boring song I've heard since Georgia in Eurovision 2021 sawry. PSA for everyone reading this: don't send piano ballads if you want a good score from me, because 99% of them just don't catch my attention. Of course it was a great fit for the challenge but fitting the challenge is only part of what needs to be achieved, making sure I don't fall asleep should also be a goal.
Your second song was better and fits the theme well enough too. I did think it was a little flat though. Like this isn't really the kind of rock song that blows your ears off, so it could've been even more maximalist. Kinda surprised nobody went with metal, now that would've been good for this challenge. I do applaud the originality of this track though. Maika Monroe:sampha - no one knows me this is a beautiful soulful track don’t get me wrong but something about this bores me to death. it does fit the theme tho!
haru nemuri - narashite i love the blend of rock and electronic elements it creates a very powerful track. this isn’t something i would listen to everyday but that’s totally fine. Marina Satti:I liked your first song not so fond of the second one it’s getting close every detail matters Jojo Siwa:The Sampha pick was pretty safe, I'll admit, but it is a song that I personally quite enjoy. Loved the pick out of left field for maximalist too- my favorite track this week! Good work.

Waiting for us next is Eva Máziková ( Percy Yates). Maika Monroe:ry x - only wow this one really calmed me down. it’s a very sad song with some gorgeous vocals, i really liked the guitar too. great submission!
wednesday campanella i really love how unique their music is and it really gives me energy but at the same time i wanted.. more? especially for this theme and hearing the other maximalism tracks i don’t think this would be in my top. Jojo Siwa:I think both of these choices are not only good songs but perfectly fitting for the categories they're in. Nothing about it is very exciting for me, though, so it's a solidly good but not spectacular review from me. JuPaul:Again, not the most exciting entry was submitted for the first category. It fit the challenge, it had elements I liked, but overall it was a bit forgettable to me.
Your maximalist entry was my favorite song of the challenge though. Not a perfect song by any means but I think it fits the theme and also sounds pretty good, which is one of the rare compliments I can give out this week. Marina Satti:first song is amazing. Second song is bad.

And finally, it's time for Estrogennifer ( Alper). Marina Satti:very nice entries you had there. Enjoyed it. JuPaul:Your first song was nice! Not something that'll stay in my head but it was cute, one of the better submissions for this category.
Pink Diamonds was also a good fit and one of the few songs I enjoyed this week. Kinda sick of seeing Charli though, I think 3 times in this season is more than enough x Maika Monroe:sade - like a tattoo her voice captivates me every god damn time i hear it. very good song!
charli xcx - pink diamond oh hell yes!! i think this is exactly the track i think of when i hear the word maximalism. definitely one of the best on hifn!. Jojo Siwa:I find both of these choices to be rather uninspired, but I did definitely enjoy the Sade song quite a bit. Pink Diamonds is yet another example I do not enjoy Charli XCX music. Meh.

EPISODE 11 RESULTS • SING-OFF
Estrogennifer... Mel A tonin... two queens stand before me. This is the last chance for you to impress me and save yourself from elimination. Let's listen to your songs. Estrogennifer | Mel A Tonin | Little Simz • "I Love You, I Hate You" | METTE • "Bet" |
|
|
Ladies, I've made my decision. Two very different albeit great songs here! Estrogennifer, shantay you stay.
Mel A Tonin, it took four tries to finally get rid of you! Jk kimora, I really enjoyed your presence in this season, you sent some iconic songs. Bet is also a guilty pleasure song for me but the other entry... whew. It's certainly no easy feat to make it to the top 5, so you should be proud of yourself. Now... sashay away.
