Wow, amazing how much debate a simple flag icon can cause. Personally I don't think the flag is necessary but I accept that pretty much a large percentage of the forum is LGBT so I don't really care, let them have it if they wish

Why is the pride flag necessary? an essay by yours truly
Hello and welcome to the Song Contest Forums where we do not stan homophobia.
It is an undeniable fact that a large portion of both this community and the Eurovision fan community in general identify as LGBTQ+. It's just simply undeniable, and if you see it any other way then I'm sorry, maybe some glasses would help?
It is pride month for the entirety of June and this is the time when heterosexuality is banned the LGBTQ+ community comes together to not only feel united, but to also celebrate the differences within the community itself and also the history behind the continued fight for our rights across the entire world. Again, as a primarily LGBTQ+ community, it is to be expected that a nod to pride would be appreciated by most. And even if we were a majority heterosexual community, a nod to pride would still harm absolutely no one.
Many people also look at communities such as these forums as an escape from reality where they may be faced with homophobia and be scared of being able to fully express themselves (you're not alone!), and the inclusion of a pride flag is something that will further the idea that even if they're not accepted in real life, they're accepted and welcome here.
B- b- but, IT'S POLITICAL!!!!!
Is it political? Yes. Should it be? No.
LGBTQ+ people are no different from heterosexual and cisgendered people, but unfortunately it's beyond our control that the issue of our rights has been turned into a political battleground. In an ideal world, your sexual orientation should not correspond to any kind of political ideology, but unfortunately in the real world, it's the right wing and conservatives who largely wish to strip us of our rights, therefore pride and LGBTQ+ rights are something that the left wing have adopted, which in turn has turned it into a left vs right political issue. Things are slowly changing on this front, but the keyword is slowly.
Therefore yes, it's political; but at the same time, what isn't these days? If you claim these forums should be about music and not politics then I'm sorry to rain on your straight pride parade, but music and the music industry are also incredibly political.
You can't escape politics, but sometimes instead of complaining that something is political, especially something like the pride flag, maybe instead of focusing on the negative aspects behind the flag, focus on the positives instead - there's a lot more of them.
With that being said, the flag is staying until the end of June.
HAPPY PRIDE

I just wonder how. I mean a lot of forumers in general identify openly here as members of LGBTQ+ and even if LGBTQ+ aren't a majority which on forum it clearly shows they are (or at least they are a lot of members of LGBTQ+ on the forum), why not show respect to the ones who are during the Pride month where it is their time to fight for their own rights as human beings and encourage them that they are welcome here being who they are. Number of the members and what move it represents, can we can we all just appreciate one another and not get into hidden meaning what it represents apart love and support thank you.
