I personally agree with a great deal of thinkers in the argument that the main difference of humans from other biological species is the ability to be involved in politics, or to put it simply, "Human is a political animal", as rightfully argued by Aristotle. The very existence of a "homosexual" identity and the very existence of the Pride Month represent the resistance to the repression perpetrated towards queer community. Hence, there is no point in denying that celebrating the Pride Month is a political move.
Notwithstanding, I personally encourage the politicisation of queer liberation movement. Do not forget that the intention of every governmental institution is exactly the opposite: to exclude as many as possible people from the "political life" and reduce them to "biological life" (see: "bare life" - G. Agamben; "private realm" - H. Arendt) in order to control the population and legitimize the state violence. The politicisation of the queer liberation is very topical especially in the light of rise of rainbow capitalism in the world: where governments use LGBTQ+ protection as a tool of pinkwashing and homonationalism (a tactic of right-wing parties in Europe which focuses more and more on protection of LGBTQ+ rights in paralel to the discursive formulation of certain migrant population groups as anti-LGBT in order to strengthen anti-immigrant sentiments, especially towards Muslim men, as these parties consider them security threats) and companies focus on LGBTQ+ rights in order to gain commercial benefits, especially during Pride Month - however, the branches of the same companies in homophobic countries actually promote gender roles and stereotypes through their advertisements, paradoxically. What is worse, in many countries, queer persons are subject to discriminatory, inhuman and degrading treatment.
Unfortunately, today LGBTQ+ rights matter to the governmental institutions as long as they serve the political and economic goals of these institutions. Queer life has become a means to an end, rather than an end in the liberal market order that dominates our lives. Our goal should be to create a world where human beings are respected for one simple fact: that they are humans, however. Hence, it is very logical to politicise the queer liberation movement in order to build a better and safer world for everyone. It is disappointing that quite many people prefer to stay apolitical nowadays (which is also related to privatization of life and the construction of "neoliberal societies"). As rightly goes in the slogan of radical feminists, "personal is political", so of course you should speak up about your struggles and empathise towards each other, support through your actions and celebrate this resistance. I think that it is really cool that you guys stand against long-term repression towards the queer community in this forum, even though it might seem as a little detail to many of you. Do not forget: "Where there is a power, there is resistance".
Good luck in your resistance!

Loving yourself has nothing to do with politics ![](http://i.imgur.com/p3cN5c9.png) if tolerance is considered a political statement nowadays then maybe we just live in sh*tty world? I think nobody understands what I mean here... I dont have a problem with loving yourself, I dont have a problem with showing tolerance and in my opinion this forum shows a lot of tolerance. It is a good thing to show commitment for something like that.
I did not know that its just for a month ok, I thought it should be the new figurehead of this forum. For me its just important that things like a song contest or a forum like that should not show too clear political messages, bcs thats not the main thing of this forum or song contests, its the music and to bring people of all cultures together and I think some people lose sight of that.
But you absolutely 100% have a problem with showing tolerance, otherwise this would have never bothered you in the first place as this is just the forum and it's administrators showing tolerance towards a minority. If you don't like that this community is making a "political statement" (your words, not mine) then you are free to leave anytime. You are not forced to stay within a community that does not fit with your values and views. You may however want to reevaluate said values and views if you as a bisexual person take offence in people supporting the minority that you, by the nature of your bisexuality, are most definitely a part of. This forum is showing that people like you and me find a save space here where they can be with their peers and be 100% themselves. I think it is remarkable that a forum about music is openly showing that people can come here and be themselves without having to fear ridicule and discrimination. This forum didn't have to do it. But they did and that is something that I think is worth noting that, in a day and age where people of all sorts of minorities (women, LGBTQ+, people of colour, etc.) are suppressed, discriminated and excluded by backwards-thinking people and governments, they are showing people that being 100% you is okay and that you don't have to fear for anything if you are here. I can understand that politics can be overwhelming and even discouraging sometimes but in this current age everything can and will be politicized by anyone that feels like it and just being you IS a political statement no matter where you are or what you are or what you believe in.

really? again the gay flag? I know that comment will receive hate, but Im bi, so it isnt homophobic lol. Its just that this is a forum for song contests without any political statements or something like that and this looks like a statement... It definitely is a political statement, but don’t act as if the other option (which is the flag of a country) was not.

We can't definitely say that sexuality is not a political subject. It is, by many aspects, and it will stay very political as long as there will be countries where some basic human rights won't be recognised. These aspects are:
- sexual harassment; - right to abortion; - assisted reproductive technology; - equality between men and women; - marriage and other forms of civilian unions; - tolerance towards minorities; - prostitution; and so on.
I won't enter into details because people under 18 are on the forum but sexuality even became a significant part of the political program of several porn actresses.
So clearly, there is a connection between sexuality and politics.
Is sexuality connected to music? The answer is also 'yes': love is the most common theme of songs and sexual orientation is sometimes a significant part of the artistical identity of a singer. I think that the message is quite clear here for example:
But there are also artists who consider that their sexuality is private and has nothing to do with their artistical work. And there are other themes of songs that sexuality or love in general. So we can't identify music and sexuality.
The purpose of this forum is clearly music. And personally, the sexual orientation of an artist has never been a criteria of selection. For example, I already sent Kim Petras (transexual), Bebe Rexha (bisexual) and Maruv (who defines herself as 'potentially lesbian') and an openly lesbian artist was planned after Bebe Rexha in case of top 6, so definitely sending LGBT artists is not a problem for me but I selected them upon artistical criterias. You can also notice that I don't speak about my own sexuality because I consider that it is private.
Now about the fact of having a rainbow flag on the forum. If the purpose is to remind us a message of tolerance, that is not a big deal. But it raises one question: why not replacing the flag on the forum by an image of Earth every 22nd April as well for the international Earth Day, by the doves of the international Peace Day every 21st September, and so on?
