f(x)
f(x) is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment in 2009. The quintet consists of Victoria, Amber, Luna, Sulli, and Krystal. The name is a play on the mathematical notation for function. The group made their debut on September 5, 2009 with release of the digital single "LA chA TA". f(x) released their first EP Nu ABO in 2010 to growing popularity. f(x) released their first studio album Pinocchio in 2011. The lead single off the album "Pinocchio (Danger)" gained their first music program win and was their first song to win the triple crown.
They released their second Korean EP Electric Shock on June 10, 2012. Electric Shock reached the #1 spot on both the US and Canadian iTunes electronic albums chart soon after its release. The lead single off their EP gained significant popularity and acclaim, domestically sweeping digital charts.

Career
In 2006, SM Entertainment, an entertainment agency based in South Korea, recruited Luna after seeing her performing on a SBS's television program, "Truth Game". After training for more than three years, she became a member of a quintent pop idol girl group, f(x), under the label of her agency. On September 1, 2009, f(x)'s first single "La Cha Ta" (stylized as "LA chA TA") was digitally released. The group's first broadcast performance of "La Cha Ta" was held at MBC's music show Show! Music Core on September 5, 2009. Since then, f(x), has released three digital singles and a mini-album, Nu ABO, and have won numerous awards. The group participated in the SMTown Live '10 World Tour alongside their label-mates in Seoul, Shanghai and Los Angeles. f(x) has also appeared in their own reality shows like Hello f(x) and f(x)'s Koala. In 2010, Luna won the 'Variety New Star Award' at the SBS Entertainment Awards for 'Star King'.
In October 2010, Luna was one of the twenty idols from different South Korean groups that recorded the song, "Let's Go", for the purpose of increasing public participation in the 2010 G-20 Seoul summit. She provided vocals along with labelmates Sungmin, Seohyun and Jonghyun.

Amber, is a Taiwanese American singer active in South Korea. She is a member of SM Entertainment's pop girl group f(x). Aside from her rapping skills, she is also known as the girl with a boyish image, different from the usual sweet and girly image of other Korean girl groups.

Amber was cast from SM Entertainment's Los Angeles global audition in 2008, where she and one male was selected to be a trainee for SM Entertainment. After a year and a half of training, she debuted under the f(x) in September 2009. Choi Jinri (born March 29, 1994), better known by her stage name Sulli is a Korean actress, singer, dancer, and MC. She made her debut as a child actress in 2005. Early Life
Sulli was born on 29 March 1994 in the City of Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, Republic of South Korea. But since childhood she was a citizen of Busan. Her real name is Choi Jin Ri. Jinri itself means it is the truth. Sulli is the only daughter of her family, she has two older brothers. Since she was a little girl, her mother entered her to attend acting school. Sulli first came to Seoul in 2004 (4th grade), and in 2005, Sulli began acting professionally as little Princess Sunhwa in the SBS drama The Ballad of Seodong and some later became a cameo in another SBS drama, Love Needs a Miracle. Discovered by SM Entertainment in 2000, she began filming for commercials and music videos by 2002.
She is currently a member of the Korean quintet girl group f(x), formed by SM Entertainment in 2009.
Early life:
Krystal was born in San Francisco, California, where her family from South Korea settled in the 1980s.
During a family trip to South Korea in early 2000, when Krystal was five years old, she and her sister Jessica Jung were spotted by a talent agency SM Entertainment, which earned her a cameo appearance in Shinhwa's "Wedding March" music video.
The agency saw potential in both Krystal and her sister and offered them singing and dancing lessons, opting to professionally train them in a singing career.
However, the offer was turned down by her parents, reasoning that Krystal was too young. Therefore, her parents at first only allowed her older sister to join the agency.

In 2010, Krystal appeared on Let's Go Dream Team 2, where she broke a high jump record that had been set on the show 10 years ago. She now holds the women's high jump record of 1.95m.

In 2011, she competed on Seoul Broadcasting System's skating reality show Kim Yuna's Kiss & Cry.
