Semi-Final 4 participants announced!Click on the artist's picture to listen to the song.01. ALEX SAIDAC("Number Painting")Alex Saidac is truly an artist and a songwriter who dares to go her own way. She released her first single back in 2011 with great success. Alex became a top priority at Island Records and followed up with the single “Stay In This Moment” and was just about to wrap up the production of her first full length album. But then, on a writing trip to L.A. she started thinking about the songs on her album and what they had to do with herself and her own musical references. The answer was tough but honest. She had written 12 super pop songs through a songwriters perspective, but the songs was not meant for her as an artist. The vibe from classic hip hop and RnB mixed with a strong power pop chorus was just not there. She convinced the record label that they had to pause the process and re think. After some time in the studio with a lot of different writers and producers with one of which being Pharrell Williams, Alex went back to Sweden with inspiration and a new clear vision. Alex Saidac teamed up with her producers and wrote this new track “Number Painting”. A song about being yourself and not to let anyone else define who you are. Number Painting is mixed by Lasse Mårtén (Lykke Li, Niki & The Dove, Primal Scream etc.).
"Number Painting" is a worthy song to open the fourth and last semi-final.02. SAHARA HOTNIGHTS("Cheek To Cheek")Sahara Hotnights is a rock band from Robertsfors, Sweden. Their style incorporates elements of garage rock, power pop and punk. The band formed sometime around 1991/1992, "due to boredom". Around 1995, they won a "battle of the bands" contest and were awarded with a chance to record their songs in studio. Their debut EP was released in 1997 to immediate success and critical acclaim in Europe. In 1999 Sahara Hotnights released their debut full-length studio album C'mon Let's Pretend, which earned two Grammis nominations. Sahara Hotnights' sound has been described as a mix between Blondie, The Ramones, and Nirvana. Although their latest work has a more pop sound to it, Sahara Hotnights have always been influenced by classic rock and punk bands.
They will start second with their power pop-rock song "Cheek To Cheek".03. NICOLE SABOUNÉ("Win This Life")Nicole Sabouné is a Swedish singer, that likes to call herself also a poet and "space invader". In 2012, she participated in the swedish version of The Voice, in the same season as common names Ulf Nilsson and Mary N'diaye.
She is the third to perform with her mystic pop-indie-rock song "Win This Life".04. AMANDA MAIR("Sense")Amanda Mair bring ideas of a what a young, Swedish Dusty Springfield produced by Kate Bush might have sounded like if she arrived today. With melodies lit by sunlight and a voice that goes straight to the heart this is nothing less than pure magic. Only 15 year old from an island outside Stockholm Amanda Mair didn't have any official record as an artist in 2010. She had no bandcamp/myspace page, hadn't made any live shows or sent any demos to labels or press. Her first singles were released in 2011. Now in 2014, she's back with her latest single, which she is going to compete in Fantasifestivalen with.
This single is called "Sense" and will be performed as fourth in the fourth semi-final.05. KRISTOFFER RAHBEK("Junkie For Love")Kristoffer Rahbek is probably the most special act in this edition of Fantasifestivalen. Why? - Because he's not Swedish. Kristoffer Rahbek is this edition's foreign act - from Denmark! 2011, he started recording videos of hisself, singing in a bathroom. "I was just happy with the 20 views per month", so Kristoffer. The key to the success was a cover version of Michel Teló's famous "Ai Se Eu Te Pego", which brought him thousands of views and a record deal to one of the worlds biggest recordlabels - Universal Music. He is participating in the Swedish national selection, instead of the Danish one for several reasons. "Fantasifestivalen is really huge and a great opportunity to promote me and my music. I just applied to SVT when they were looking for foreign acts and - here I am! Also, I'd love to get success internationally and I think Sweden is perfect to start with."
His pop song "Junkie For Love", that will be performed fifth, may not only be popular by girls, as it's extremely catchy.06. ERIK LINDER & HANNE SØRVAAG("Så länge hjärtat slår")Erik Linder is a Swedish singer, who became famous by participating in Talang 2009, the swedish version of Got Talent. Although he did not win, he released his first studio album in 2009. He also took part in Melodifestivalen 2010, but failed to make it to the final. Still the song charted at #38 in Sverigetopplistan, the 2nd official Swedish Singles Chart. In January 2011, he ended his cooperation with Columbia and changed to his own record label Tilia Records. Now he participates in Fantasifestivalen, "it's the perfect time now", as he said. He will not sing alone though.
He will be joined by Hanne Sørvaag, a Norwegian singer, based in Sweden for several years, now living again in her homeland Norway. She released her first album in 2002, an album that gave her three fair radio hits in Norway. Apart from her career as a performing artist, she's also been successful writing for other artists, notably "My Destiny" (co-written by Tim Baxter and Harry Sommerdahl), which was performed by Katharine McPhee in the American Idol finals in 2006. Moreover, she participated in the Norwegian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, wrote the Eurovision songs "Disappear" by No Angels (2008), "My Heart Is Yours" by Didrik Solli-Tangen (2010) and "Shine" by Sofia Nizharadze (2010). Hanne Sørvaag also wrote the national final song for a former Norwegian North Vision Song Contest participants - Carina Dahl, song called "Guns & Boys".
Together they take the stage as sixth and sing the Swedish-languaged ballad "Så länge hjärtat slår" - As long as the heart beats.07. MARLENE("Bon Voyage")If the sunset would have a soundtrack it would be sampled in most of Marlene's songs, mixed with raw R&B beats, melodic keys and daydreams of skyscrapers, beach parties and a bit of homesickness. "I want to see the world through my music, with my music and I want the world to see me". After spending last year touring with Benga, Marlene came back home to Stockholm with an unsettling hunger for bringing hew own music to the stages. "I promised myself as a kid that I'd one day sing a self written song to an audience, even if for just one person. Now I've done that, but I grew up and so did my ambitions". Working daytime writing and putting her voice on major releases from artists such as Benga, Sebjak and Don Diablo, she devoted her nights shaping and forming the material that would later take her back into the spotlight to share her own musical vision.
She hopes her Fantasifestivalen-trip will go on, though still wishes us a "Bon Voyage", performing seventh in semi-final 4.08. GÜNTHER("I'm Not Justin Bieber Bitch")Günther, actually Mats Söderlund, is a Swedish photo model and singer, who gained a lot of fame with his 2004 song "The Ding Dong Song", rather for the words "Uuuh... you touch my tralala!". He usually performs with The Sunshine Girls, a Günther-owned girls group, who are mostly singing the hook and the chorus. In 2006, he participated in Melodifestivalen, but failed to qualify for the final. He wants to change the world by sexualising it. The most important things for him in life are Champagne, Glamour, Sex and Respect!
He will not perform with his Sunshine Girls, but gets assisted by a male vocalist, singing the provocative electro dancefloor hit "I'm Not Justin Bieber Bitch", finishing the last semi-final. I must say, I don't even barely know any of the artists, excepting Darin, Günther, Anna Sahlene, Panetoz and some others, but WOW, originality ftw Are those all the submissions of the users?
