LATVIA There are only a few countries in the world, that know exactly what Ukraine is going through right now, and Latvia is one of those countries. So quite obviously we have enough traditional/folklore songs about going to war. And this song is specifically about going to war against the russians, so it resonates very well with the current situation in Ukraine. Few of the lines in this song go: "Hey, brother, take the sword in your hands and go to the russian borders and protect your homeland!" The band that performs this latvian folklore song is Tumsa, which I have already sent previously. The female backing vocalist in this song is another artist you've seen me use (quite recently actually) - Ance Krauze. Tumsa - "Ai, Bāliņi" (2008) Tumsa - "Hey, brother" (1:04+) PICTURE

FRANCE The moment I've been waiting since 2018 when I discovered this song for the first time has finally arrived. I generally don't like her songs, which explains why I discovered it so late, but I put it on top of my list after the first listening. I originally planned to send it to edition #118 but it started a few days before the song became eligible. I hope it will end the deepest crisis in the history of France in this contest... For personal reasons (and not because of the last edition's last place), I will not take part in this edition and probably neither the next.
