Lemme (real name Elizabeth Lemme) was born in Montréal,
Canada on 30 April 1993 to two Italian parents, which is why she speaks Italian fluently, alongside French and English and a fourth undisclosed tongue. At the tender age of two, she began to learn how to play classical piano, however she was unable to read the music notes because she would just listen to the sounds made by others and play that back instead.
At the age of 17, she walked into a modeling agency, which has helped her get 30.000 Instagram followers.
Her musical debut came back in 2016 when Lemme featured on
Sofi Tukker's song "Awoo", gaining moderate success and notoriety. Lemme was approached three days after the release of the music video to see if she would represent Italy in NVSC, which she gracefully accepted. Despite not being born in Italy, she feels "extremely connected" to the country.
Her NVSC 24 song, "Bambola" (English: "Doll") is the first Italian entry to be sung in three languages, French, Italian and English. The song has received critical acclaim in Italy, where it has charted on the main charts (#49), alongside iTunes and Spotify. Lemme was a lyricist of the song, alongside Scott Harris (Melanie Martinez, Astrid S) and Rick Martowitz (Melanie Martinez, Krewella).
Betta tells us that "Bambola" serves "as an anthem for anyone who has ever felt objectified or thrown to the side. It is meant as an anthem for people that don't want to feel worthless and are ready to not stand for it anymore."
Betta hopes to win for her second home!
