Michele Bravi was born in Città di Castello,
Perugia on 19 December 1994.He took a keen interest in music as a child, learning how to play the piano, before his interest later become a passive hobby.
In 2013, Bravi auditioned for Italy's seventh season of the X Factor, in the end managing to win the competition, signing to Sony Music. Shortly after Bravi reached his first Italian number one in "La vita e la felicità". Furthermore, he later released his first album, which featured songwriters such as Giorgia, James Blunt and Tiziano Ferro.
In 2015 Bravi changed labels to Universal Music, and started a YouTube channel, amassing over 500.000 subscribers, shortly before publishing his second album and later on participating in Sanremo 2017.
Bravi is no stranger to the competition, having represented
San Marino in the eleventh edition, however, he placed last in the Pre-Qualification Round. Bravi hopes to this time do much better for his home country. The leak video's hints were pointing towards NVSC 19, as it featured Ronela Hajati, the winner, alongside the dates of the semi finals. The theme of this edition was diamonds, which is the translation of Michele's song.
"Diamanti" (English: "Diamonds") is a classical midtempo song with modern flavour, with this being the first time Italy sends a solo male in almost twenty editions. The song reached #100 on the Italian charts as a part of the album Anime de carta (English: Paper anime). The song's lyricists are Andrea Amati (
21, Emma Marrone, Annalisa) and Federica Abbate ( 16, 21, Fedez, Francesca Michielin).Michele has been quoted as saying that "Diamanti" is an intense piece not only from a musical but from a literary point of view. The text, in fact, is profound and tells the emotions and fears of those who can not give the right importance to people and feelings when they are part of their lives.
The song in itself is about men realising their own feelings towards people of any gender only when they are lost.
