DAY 3
Another hugely enjoyable afternoon game took place today in Frigg. It took Fordia just six minutes to take the lead after Husen slammed the loose ball into the roof of the net. But the team of Wyvernbourne hit back within a minute after unleashing a wonderful curling effort from the left wing. Fordians looked hungry to score more goals at Arena de Valle and they did so just before the break, finding the net with a stunning free-kick which left Wyverish keeper helpless as he scrambled across his line. However, Wyvernbourne had other ideas as they hit back just minutes after half-time when their main striker was slotted through on goal and he kept his composure to fire beyond Kröler for his second goal of the evening. The moment that delivered Fordia 3 points came in the 79th minute, when Torstein’s volley off a picture-perfect centering pass from Förs, made them victorious.
Moly-Boronia and Flírskmasto played out the fourth draw of the 2018 World Cup, and the first game without goals, with neither side able to break the deadlock in a 0-0 stalemate. There was finally a match as dry as dust, even if it did not quieten this arena: there was noise in Lytte, and lots of it, there just wasn’t much else. For a moment this felt like it might be enjoyable, the early momentum with Flírskmasto, but that moment was extremely brief – the opening ten minutes were exciting, the remaining eighty were not. When the two teams departed at half time the supporters were unimpressed. Flírskmasto’s wasteful passing, allied to their desire to get forward but their apparent uncertainty as to how, infuriated the crowd and encouraged Moly-Boronia, who occasionally countered.
Lidonia, the runner-ups of the previous World Cup were held to a 2-0 win against Ydiwealth in their Group C opener. Lidonians were heading to Levalle as one of the favourites to win the whole thing. They took the first step to do their job after illuminating the World Cup with a clinical, spirited and tactically superb victory over the debuting team from Ydiwealth. They defended with intelligence, strength and the occasional tactical foul, seized their clearest chances and worked ferociously for each other. There was no clearer illustration of the unity running through the team than when Hugo Madsen sealed the win. Despite losing the match, Ydiwealth left a good impression which gives hope to their supporters about a possible qualification to the knockout phase.
United Lands of Jarea ended a streak of bad luck in their World Cup opening matches after trashing Wedse 5-0 in Andrex. UL Jarea took the lead in the 23rd minute. Yuo with a curling cross and Crishan was on hand to nod into the ball into the back of the net at Stade des Deray. They doubled their lead at the 37th minute with a brilliant team goal, playing the ball across the box to FIan a quick change of direction put two Wedse defenders on the floor and the winger smashed the ball into the near corner. The second half continued with strong determination of the debutants from Wedse to reduce the goal tally with nice bail possession but were checked by the defensive wall of the Jareans. It seemed like their key player, Maxiim Haltai took a day off as he missed several opportunities to score the first ever World Cup goal for Wedse. His team conceded additional three goals in the second half, ending the match 5-0 in favour of Jarea.

DAY 4
A brilliant goal helped Namimori record a scratchy victory in their opening World Cup match against Evergreen. The fans of rookies from Namimori hoped for achieving a good result in a game with theoretically the strongest team in their group. There were times when Evergreen looked superior and times when Namimori looked desperate enough, but in coming back from a goal down to win the match they showed character and application. The first goal arrived just before the half-hour. Evergreen went ahead and were worth their lead. The Everish players at their sophisticated best should really have doubled their lead before the interval. Namimori produced a devastating display of counter-attacking football in a wonderful second-half display to leave Evergeen utterly shell-shocked. Namimori took the lead after 12 minutes of the second half. Both teams played well and will fancy their chances of going through.
Confident, composed and in control against ineffective Sylvan, the Scandavian team reaffirmed their credentials in emphatic style as they recorded their first victory at the 2018 World Cup. It was a very solid showing from Scandavia, who are looking to progress beyond the last 16 of a World Cup once again after losing in the quarter-final last year. 2015 World Champions went ahead early through Sven Tiermann and their lead was doubled just before the hour mark by Jákob Hagersted. Sylvan created several chances, and scored their first goal just after Scandavia's second after outsmarting the Scandavian keeper with a diving header. Hagersted gave Scandavia the perfect finish. The ball went to Jákup, then back to Tiermann, who flicked it faintly to Hagersted, and he stroked a fine left-footed shot low past poor Sylvanian keeper from 15 yards out.
Llort made a perfect and surprising start to their World Cup campaign, as we saw them ease to a 6-1 victory over Alkyria in their opening match in Group F. The Serican nation opened the scoring in Madevis after just 11 minutes, following referee’s decision to award them a penalty. Llort were four ahead with a little over a half hour played. Alkyria's hopes of salvaging a result receded further in the minutes that followed when one of their defenders was dismissed for violent conduct. Llort then tightened their grip after taking the advantage of Alkyrian errors in defence to make it 5-0 just before the break. It was a comfortable second half for the Llortish, and they secured their 3 points after tapping in from five yards out in the 74th minute, completing a comfortable win over the Southern-Sakodan team. Then Alkyria scored a consolation goal but that simply was not enough. They were sloppy, brainless and over-run. The Llortish side look in fine fettle and did eveything right, although it was a charitable display from Alkyria.
Torlova snatched a late winner as they began their World Cup campaign with a dramatic victory over Lanovina in Braeden. Torlova scored an 89th-minute header to secure a 1-0 win. Lanovina came within minutes of earning a point largely thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Timon Halt, who bravely dived to catch the ball from the Torlovan striker's feet. Slowly, but it had been coming. After 80 minutes in which almost nothing had happened, Torlova had begun to increase the pressure. Still, the match was abound in a lot of errors in defence from both sides. It was slightly scrappy, short of fluidity or goalmouth action. Both teams now have four more days to get into shape before Lanovina face Namimori in Andrex this Sunday, while Torlova will play Evergreen in Brodrik.

DAY 5
Sincuerello moved closer to securing passage to the knockout rounds with an easy 4-1 dismissal of Glaray in Dermo. Sincuerello were dominant from the outset, taking a 2-0 lead inside 19 minutes. Glaray would have been fearing a thrashing at that point but got themselves back in the game 60 seconds later. With Glaray pressing on, Sincuerello were a constant threat on the break and wasted a couple of good openings. They finally found the killer finish to lift the ball over the Glaraian goalkeeper to restore their two-goal cushion. They finished the party in the second half with a spectacular raking pass that released the Sincuerellese striker through on goal. That goal knocked the stuffing out of Glaray, who threw the towel in during the final quarter. This was all about Sincuerello, who laid down the first real marker of the tournament with this convincing victory.
The World Cup has its another shock and, as unexpected results go, it could be that this tournament sees nothing quite so remarkable again. Prunia may be sublime on the ball yet the lesson handed out by a limited but ultimately jubilant Drevona showed that anything can happen. Prunia, the clear tournament favourites and 2015 World Cup Champions, had been supposed to swat Drevona away with the minimum of fuss and maximum of style. The most illuminating moment of the Drevonan team came 71 minutes into a match that will be remembered for Prunia's domination as well as their frustration. We did not have to wait too long for another goal. Drevona were two ahead just three minutes after scoring their first ever World Cup goal. Surprisingly, the action was almost exclusively in the Drevonan half of the pitch. For Prunia it is difficult to know how their World Cup could have started more gallingly. The fact that their discomfort has invigorated a hitherto disappointing competition will be no consolation.
Pohunskia repelled a strong World Cup comeback from the Ninelians to win a highly entertaining Group G match 3-1. They were forced to work hard by the Ninelien team who looked early on as if they would be utterly humiliated. Pohunskia raced into a two-goal lead inside 27 minutes. From nothing, Ninelie got one back and gave themselves a chance. They did well to win the ball inside the Pohunskia's half. Then a lovely cross came in and eventhough their striker was marked by the Pohunskian defender, he still managed to rise and score. Ninelie wasted a number of good chances to gain at least a point in Marleti. In the end, Pohunskia were absolutely sure about their first tournament victory after scoring another goal in a stoppage time to complete the success. Ninelie suddenly sprung to life and it was all their pressure in the final seconds but they lacked a cutting edge.
The painful memories from Lakadamia will soon begin to fade if this is a sign of things to come from Aquia as they opened their 2018 World Cup campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Niolskiaj. The match did not lack atmosphere, Arena de Valle was buzzing with excitement thanks to the Aquian and Niol fans. José Augusto Cougil broke the deadlock from the penalty spot. He belted the penalty home, high to the keeper's right, who went the wrong way. They nearly scored once again with a free kick from tight on the left with the final act of the half. Aquia undoubtedly deserved their lead. It was doubled seven minutes into the second half when Niolskiaj's keeper inadvertently pushed the rebound over the line. Cougil unloaded a shell of a right-footed shot into the roof of the net in the 68th minute to complete the result. Niolskiaj managed to play some decent football but they should beware inviting pressure with a series of fouls which led the referee to award them 5 yellow cards.
