YLE has announced Finland's withdrawal from the upcoming edition, citing internal issues as the reason.

"We're very sorry to disappoint our fans," said Finland's Head of Delegation in an interview given to Iltalehti, "We are currently facing massive issues internally, and a Finnish participation in the upcoming edition just isn't possible at this time."

A day after giving the interview, the Head of Delegation resigned from his position. YLE has stated that they will be looking for a new Head of Delegation in time.


I understand this might come as a surprise to many people, but yes, I am withdrawing permanently from NVSC from #27 onwards.

Why? The main reason is a lack of interest, but also a lack of time. In truth, I've been wanting to withdraw for a while now, since before #25, but I've always put it off thinking "not yet". In the last couple of weeks though, I've really come to realise that I don't have the interest I once did anymore. At first I thought I should maybe stay until #30, to withdraw at a nice round edition number, but I don't think I can hold this off until then anymore. I've also had a lack of time in general, and I knew it was inevitable that eventually I wouldn't have the time to deal with NVSC anymore. Most of the time I do have on the forums, I generally spend on the Fantasia Contest.

I also realised that my first edition was #7 and so withdrawing at #27 kind of makes sense. Speaking of, #7 was 5 years ago! Honestly, NVSC has been such a big part of my life for 5 years and throughout this time I've had highs, I've had lows, and I've met a lot of amazing people. I will always cherish and remember my win in the 13th edition, back then it seemed like such a massive feat that I accomplished.

Together with this, I am also stepping down from my position in the NBU Council. Throughout my time in the council, the council as well as the contest have changed so much, it's really quite unbelievable. Thank you to the current council members and all the past council members for all of their work on this fantastic contest. And a very big, special thanks to Rick, if he ever reads this, without him I don't know if I would've even joined the council in the first place!

Also a big thank you to Alper for being my co-HoD. Even if it was just for a single edition, his enthusiasm and general attitude towards the contest almost helped me regain interest, but for me, the factor soon wore off, unfortunately. Still, the work he did on Finland's national selection in the 26th edition absolutely deserves praise. He's really a wonderful co-HoD and I'm glad I had him with me for my last edition.
