THE LEBANSE ENTRY FOR THE 28TH NORTHVISION SONG CONTEST

BEIRUT, 30 MARCH 2019.
As part of the Arabic Super Saturday,

Lebanon revealed their entry for the 28th Northvision Song Contest tonight.
For the 28th edition,

Lebanon has to get through its 4th PQR. And hoping for its 3rd qualification from there.

We are ready to reveal who will represent

Lebanon in NVSC #28:

MAYSSA KARAA

Mayssa Karaa, born in Beirut, Lebanon, is a Lebanese/American singer, currently based in LA, California.
Mayssa and her family moved to Boston in 2006 to join their relatives living there.

While in Boston, she firstly studied to be a civil engineering, then entered the Berklee College of Music, where she studied
Middle Eastern and Eastern European music, classical opera, and contemporary genres.
She's singing in English, Arabic, Persian, Italian and French. Her entry choosed for the contest, being in English.

Mayssa stated about this song:
“This song 'Call Me a Stranger' describes my search for my identity and the real me. Somehow when I'm in the US I feel like I'm so Lebanese
but then when I visit Lebanon I feel like an American and I'm sure that a lot of people who left the countries they grew up in feel the same
and that's when I wondered: why do we always feel like strangers wherever we go? Hopefully, this song will touch hearts in a positive way.”

The video is also clear to project Mayssa not as a victim, but as the empowered and talented woman she is,
making a strong impact on the world through thought-music & art.

Czech Republic has to withdraw this edition!

After Mandrage ended up last in the Semi-Final of the previous edition, the broadcaster called for an internal meeting to discuss the future of the country. A voting process took place aswell, where the delegation members could express their opinions about the participation of the country. The voting was really close, but at the end 52% of the voters opted for the withdrawal, and the current financial situation together with a lack of interest from local artists only made the decision clearer.

It was however also decided that the broadcaster will work really hard on the current issues and the delegation aims to return next edition.

Shortly after the announcement

Czech fan favourites such as Annet X or Barbora Mochowa expressed their support towards the broadcaster as well as their intention to possibly take part in the next edition.

(sorry guys for missing out this edition, it would've been really exciting to finally debut but I have my Final Exams this May and I wanna concentrate all my forces on that as it really decides A LOT, so I really need a good result and therefore I just wouldn't have been able to fulfill my duties as HoD. I hope you all understand my decision and hopefully see ya at #29 ^^
