The winning theme for the 90th edition is National genre/Traditional song, which means that every country must send a song that fits to that theme. Here is some information that could help you find your entry.

Historical characteristics of Traditional Folk Music:
• It was transmitted through an oral tradition.
• It is often related to national culture.
• They commemorate historical or personal events.
• The songs have been performed, by custom, over a long period, usually several generations.
• There is no copyright on the songs because most of them originate from the 19th century and are much less frequent nowadays.
• Fusion of cultures; cultures interact and change over time. They may incorporate influences from disparate cultures.

To mention some genres that would fit this theme: folk, turbo-folk, folk rock, folk metal, polka, waltz, kolo, native American music, ethno, samba, salsa, indigenous music, Celtic, regional, choir music, country, gospel, flamenco, and many more as it applies to the countries.

Possible occasions these songs are/were used for: parties, weddings, kids (nursery rhymes), cultural events, manual labor (planting, reaping, weaving, milling), leisure, religious events, and so on.

This theme has an emphasis on genre, but it doesn't have to be. Traditional songs are also acceptable, they have an emphasis on the contents or lyrics, and oral transmission over generations.

Composers and songwriters versus performers and singers
When it comes to traditional music, original songwriters lived around the 19th century. This means that the original artist probably did not record a version, and the only versions of the song you can find is by other people. In this case you can either give credit to the original artist, the artist you are actually sending, or give a shoutout to the original artist (just make sure that is written clearly on your post). The latter would just have Artist and Title on the picture with the shoutout written somewhere else.

Based on the results as “must use” are restrictions and challenging theme. I don’t know if I will include anything else. For now I need some suggestions from you, or at least share what you had in mind when you voted for these options.

What would make it challenging enough, but not too challenging for small countries?
What restrictions could be used, the ones I suggested or some others too?
How many restrictions should there be?
Should everyone have the same restrictions? (connecting it to the 3rd placed option)

I don't know for the others, but the winning theme seems to be extremely different to what I understood when I read the description. When I voted I thought that quite recent entries would be eligible if they were associated to a traditional genre but apparently not at all. Searching eligible and exploitable versions of extremely ancient songs on Youtube will probably be extremely difficult, and I'm very worried to discover that there will be further restrictions or challenges upon that.

My problem is (similar to italix) are the qualities of the recordings on youtube that are very dissatisfying or not even existent ... And the nursery rhyme interpretations aren't it either obvs.

Anyway I was listening some things and now have 2 possible entries that I am very happy with.
