ICELANDIC ENTRY REVEALED!
4th May 2020 • Reykjavík, Iceland
After 3 weeks of voting in the
Icelandic national selection, Ferðin til Lúxemborgar 32, we finally have a winner. The voting closed on Saturday evening and because of the margin between the first and second places, a super final wasn't needed. Without further ado, we are proud to announce our act for the 32nd edition of the contest in 
Luxembourg City. Winning Ferðin til Lúxemborgar 32 with 47.83% of the vote, and thus our representative in Luxembourg is..ELÍSABET!
Elísabet (Elísabet Ormslev) is an
Icelandic singer who was born and raised in the capital city of Reykjavík. She has cultivated her artistic identity and local following performing in the country's largest music showcases, as well as co-writing and performing with myriad writers and producers internationally. As well as this, she has managed to garner nearly 500,000 views on her YouTube channel, where she uploads her music among other videos.Ormslev released her first song Á ný in 2016 and competed in the fictional version of our old national selection known as Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins but did not manage to win the selection in the end. Afterwards, in 2017, she decided to try and represent
Iceland in the North Vision Song Contest in the 23rd edition with her song Moving On, but only managed to come 4th in the end in the selection.This didn't stop the young singer from trying once again, and in 2020 she decided to return to the NVSC scene by taking part in Ferðin til Lúxemborgar 32. After a close call with the runner up
Charlotte Qvale, Ormslev managed to win the selection with 22 votes (47.83%) over Qvale's 17 (36.96%) and thus will represent Iceland in Luxembourg City.After her win, the singer stated that:
This feels like a dream come true - how did this happen? Out of 4 excellent songs I managed to win the selection overall. Thank you to all my lovely dolls in Europe for your support! I'll try my best to bring Iceland to the final once again, but for now I'm so excited! xx
Runner up Qvale stated that:
I must say that I was honoured to be a part of my second country's national selection. It was a tough fight and I'm so happy for Elísabet. But don't worry NVSC, you haven't seen the last of me, because I'll be back soon! mwah.
The song Sugar was released in October 2019 and will serve as the
Icelandic entry:
