Yaoundé, 21 January 2022 - After making our first qualification and top 10 in the Own Africavision 8, we'll be once again returning to the competition on its tenth edition milestone in Lesotho!
Despite rumors of a possible national selection, we have decided to settle for an internal selection with a fun track that will hopefully not flop in the semi!

WILL SHE MANAGE TO KEEP OUR STREAK? Bangui, 22 January 2021 - After our amazing team, led by Tenny and Boddhi Satva managed to bring our country yet another final, the Central African Broadcaster RTC has confirmed the presence of the Central African country yet again for the jubilee edition of the Own Africavision Song Contest, to be held in Lesotho. The broadcaster had initially shortlisted two songs to represent the war-torn country in the African Mountain Kingdom. Being extremely undecided and full of doubts, especially after 3 consecutive editions where CAR enjoyed the presence of their representatives in the Grand Final, the broadcaster asked for the help of none other than the Host Broadcaster itself, which chose an artist they had already suggested before. Currently residing in London, from the Brittany region of France and with proud Central African roots, Woïnkpa will try to do what the previous three entries did: get the Grand Final ticket, impressing all of Africa. She will sing her most famous single "Tenderised".
TENDERISED A song by Woïnkpa
TIMESLOT: TBA
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sounds like Raw, Wild, hybridised mischievous mango, crazy pineapple, strawberries and a hint of fresh mint...... With ice. COMING SOOOON.... Woïnkpa! Yes, that's her name. A mixed ethnicity from France and Central African Republic (and don't even dare asking her where in Central Africa, as she'd point out your "incomprehension of the word republic!") who was smoothly rocked by the sound of her childhood travels. "I'm a patchwork", Woïnkpa combines her cultural and musical influences around her strong identity. Witness, from very early, to dilemmas of conventional femininity on different continents, in different cultures and not being able to conform to any, she embraced and started to cultivate the individualistic aspects of herself. After being branded by Giggem as the 7th on a list of 100 "Hot songwriters in the UK", in 2013, Rob Brinkmann, who understood her crazy conceptual vision, approached her and in an improbable association between wild and subtle, the band was named after their lead vocalist. A celebration of empowerment, charismatic Woïnkpa is talking from her heart and strives for what she believes in. A blend of delicate and fragile, but raw at times, her voice is a cross between M.I.A. and Little Dragon with an exotic accent. A strange potpourri of ideas combining unusual structures with the sweet harmonic melodies of a pop sensibility, Woïnkpa showcases her talent as her ability to switch from a naïve, fragile voice (almost dream pop vocals) to an aggressive, attitude, well-timed staccato verse. The production ranges from sparse to multi-layered within the space of a few bars, giving vocals and composition, space to breathe while at times morphing into a dense, lush sound. Woïnkpa will jump from light lyrics to obscurity, words that don’t always convey their first appearance. Immerse yourself in the whole. Your best guess is as good as mine.
LISTEN TO IT ON SPOTIFY...
... When Miss Woïnkpa will decide to upload her music on the platform...
We wish best of luck to all the participants and to our talented Brittonic Queen in Lesotho!

Own Africavision Song Contest 9Confirmations ARE CLOSEDEveryone has submitted something on time kimmmmm. That means we have 50 nations in Lesotho, the most in an edition so far. We have so much to show everyone, so lets get right into it.
THE LOGO That's right. We have a logo for this edition. And here's what the lower thirds will look like
This edition's design is inspired by ice and snow, two things that may not come to mind when you think of Africa, but something Lesotho has more than enough of. Plus it makes for a unique design so I stan this
THE HOST VENUES The Afriski resort outside of Oxbow will be the host venue for the quarterfinals and the semifinals. Afriski is the only skiing resort in Lesotho, located 3050 m above sea-level (just below Mahlasela Pass, 3222 m) in the Maluti Mountains, operating in Southern Africa near the northern border of Lesotho and South Africa. It is one of only two ski resorts in southern Africa. And this is only hosting two of the three shows we will have this edition. So let's see where the final will be held
The Maletsunyane Falls, just outside the town of Semonkong will host the finals. The waterfall is on the Maletsunyane River and it falls from a ledge of Triassic-Jurassic basalt. The plunging water creates a reverberating echo when it contact the basin of the falls, and local legend has it that the sound comes from the wailing of people who have drowned in the falls. In December 2017, the Australian YouTube channel How Ridiculous broke the record for the world's highest basketball shot at Maletsunyane Falls. This stands as the current world record. The Maletsunyane Falls first Guinness Record was for the "World's longest commercially operated abseil", managed by Semonkong Lodge, with a height of 204 m (669 ft). The echoes from the basses of some of the songs will be more powerful than ever.
THE HOSTS
Due to Popular Demand, there have been rumors about Miss Mandisa Bardill returning to host after previously achieving their countries' best result. After being asked by a reporter, Mandisa replied: "Yes, i do want the africans and the people of this world to have their own song ringing in their head. I would be delighted to host such a marvelous event. And i would love to share my own song as an interval act as well." However, she won't be alone. In fact, she'll be joined by royalty.
While in a video meeting conference with Mandisa, another caller suddenly appears, and the King of Lesotho Letsie III joins the conference. He is delighted with the representation of Lesotho in the contest, and appoints himself as host of the contest, along with Mandisa Bardill.
The quarterfinals will be released shortly, live from Afriski in Oxbow.
