FARIDA TO REPRESENT ALGERIA!
The daughter of an Algerian dad and a Norwegian mother, singer/songwriter Farida Bolseth Benounis always took her singing career seriously since the age of 14. She started singing in cafés and events, then in 2016 she got lots of love from the blog community such as Billboard, The Fader, NYLON and MTV when she released her first two singles "Three Weeks" and "Solo Ride". That same year she got to play for by:Larm, Norway's biggest showcase festival, where she won an award for "Role Model of the Year". Farida has opened for Dua Lipa, played for SXSW in Texas, toured Scandinavia and is currently working as both an artist and as a songwriter for other acts. In September 2021, Farida also became a finalist in the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Contest in New York City. She is currently working on her debut album and will be releasing lots of music in 2022.
Farida's huge talent seduced the Algerian delegation who picked her and her song "Good Girl" to represent the country in the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Own Africavision Song Contest, which will take place in Lesotho.
Co-written by Rasmus Thallaug and Farida herself, the Algerian entry "Good Girl" is a fresh and energetic pop ballad about loneliness and toxic relationships, two major social issues in Algeria. The singer hopes the message in her song will raise awareness and help some people around the African continent. "GOOD GIRL"
