Russia has decided and it will be Angel Ulyanov, this singer is openly gay and is loud about it. He aims to create music that transcends the boundaries of the queer community and that seeks to dismantle those that lie beyond it. He will perform his song "Davai Zamutim" (Давай замутим) in Latvia! In the videoclip we follow a group of tracksuited lads through urban surroundings, with their buzzcuts and Adidas stripes, they project the threat of violence so often coded into the concept of Russian masculinity. When they encounter a neon-haired singer in a deserted underpass, we naturally expect confrontation. Here, though, violence is replaced with voguing, the original fearlessness of a culture born in the ballroom scenes of NYC becomes a power which dismantles homophobia.

We wish him the best of luck!

Azerbaijani entry announcement Published on 23 June 2022 • Baku, Azerbaijan
The presentation of Azerbaijan's entry for the North Vision Song Contest 39 took place today during a live event at Baku's Elektra Events Hall. The act was chosen following the decision of the national NVSC committee who collaborated with 12 international music experts for the selection process.
Natavan Həbibi returns to the contest for a second time
Natavan Həbibi is back again to represent the Land of Fire! Born in Turkmenistan, she emerged as a distinguished figure in the early 2000s as a member of the W-Trio alongside Röya Ayxan and Elnara Khalilova. After kickstarting a solo career in 2006, she achieved even greater success by gathering a wide audience with hits such as "Habibi", "Mən Səni İtirsəm" and "Ulduzlar yandı". She is also a presenter and actress, having hosted several programs.
Three years ago, she was selected to represent Azerbaijan in the North Vision Song Contest 27 with the song "Qısqana Qısqana" but failed to qualify for the final. Twelve editions later, she will be awarded a second chance to avenge her result with the song "Bərabər" (English: "Together"), which was featured as one of the five tracks from the first part of her forthcoming album "NataOne 2022". She will also be performing under the name Nataone in Latvia (and hopefully Andorra), hoping this will bring her better luck compared to last time.

Icelandic entry revealed23 June 2022 • Reykjavík, Iceland With the entries deadline for PQR countries being tomorrow, RÚV has decided to reveal who will represent Iceland in the pre-qualification round, to be held in Latvia. The amount of submissions was understandably low compared to previous editions due to this implication.
With approval being granted, we can now reveal that we have selected a male vocalist for the first time since the 28th edition, where the male group Valdimar sang for Iceland with "Of Seint".Máni Orrason to sing for Iceland! Máni Orrason was born in Reykjavík on December 24th 1997. Like previous entrants Ultraflex, he is based in Germany.
Orrason has been releasing music since 2015. However his breakthrough came in 2019, and has since been making music covering a wide range of topics linked with his personal life, with relationships being a common topic among his songs.
Máni was one of the first artists to send a song to RÚV. When asked about the stakes this edition due to his country being in the PQR, he stated that:
Of course it's not the most ideal situation. But to be given an opportunity to be in a NVSC event is something I am very happy about. I will savour this moment. The 3 letters PQR don't discourage me at this point.
Máni's selection means that it is the first time Iceland has sent a male vocalist since the 28th edition. After being selected, he stated that:
I am very proud of representing my country in this contest. I will represent my country as a proud gay man and will do all I can for Iceland this edition. I'm just glad we're in the contest in the end, despite the withdrawal rumours.
Take a listen to his entry:"I Swear It's True"performed by Máni Orrason produced by: Máni Orrason & idk lyrics: Máni Orrason Timeslot: TBD. The PQR host herself will be informed
The Icelandic delegation (me & Agni) encourage you to listen to the song in full too.We wish the best of luck to Máni Orrason in Latvia, and maybe in Andorra.

North Vision Song Contest 39PRE-QUALIFICATION ROUND FINALISEDThis edition, there will be nine countries participating in the Pre-Qualification Round, and 51 participating countries as a whole.
Poland failed to submit a song and present it, and will therefore not participate. Mateusz will receive a warning and is now at 70%. Additionally, he is required to participate and submit a song in time for the 40th edition in order not to lose his country*.
Ventspils will host the Pre-Qualification Round, in which four qualifiers will be determined.
THE RUNNING ORDER 01 Georgia 02 Slovakia 03 Faroe Islands 04 Morocco 05 Hungary 06 Azerbaijan 07 Iceland 08 Cyprus 09 Russia
* Mateusz may not lose his country if a valid reason for his absence is given.
As a reminder, we have established an approval system similar to Fantasia Contest, in which we no longer inform each individual country once their entries are approved and only if one or more entries were rejected. You may see the status of all approvals by clicking here!

It's Lucy Blue for Ireland! RTÉ is proud to announce that Lucy Blue will represent Ireland in the upcoming edition of the North Vision Song Contest, to be held in Andorra. Lucy Blue is a 19-year-old singer, songwriter and producer from Dublin, Ireland, who builds unique musical worlds from wide ranging influences covering the likes of Frank Ocean, PJ Harvey and iconic skate bible Thrasher Magazine. With mature observational lyrics about lost love, overwhelming angst and the lives of childhood friends – in a way not dissimilar to the early work of her cinematic idol Harmony Korine – Lucy’s ambitious, coming-of-age pop revels in the outsider spirit and vulnerability of being a teenager finding her way in the world. Lucy is also an incredibly visual person. For every song the Irish singer, songwriter and producer creates, she sees a space in which it exists. Sometimes it’s a room (a karaoke bar in Tokyo, her mum’s living room), sometimes a night-time bike ride, sometimes even an ominous dark place full of lily pads floating in water. With her soft Dublin accent Lucy explains how these images take over as she writes her music; how they usually come right at the start, shaping the session and the resulting song completely. “It just helps me so much with music,” Lucy says. “I need to tie what I’m hearing to an image. It helps my brain.” With a predisposition for taking on the emotional stories of her peers and a talent for processing them into something positive, Lucy Blue is an essential young voice in music: just a girl from Dublin fated to soundtrack our lives. "First Man On The Moon"(Ben Jackson-Cook, Lucy Blue) 2:48+We'd like to wish the best of luck to Lucy Blue and may she achieve a great result. A statement released from RTÉ. All rights included.
