IMF: RULES
General rules:
1. Your singer must be from your selected country.
1a. Singers with roots from a country can represent it. However this does not always mean any random american singer gets accepted. (!)
1b. If a band represents your country, 50% of the band must be from that country, same goes for duets (then obviously one must be from your country) and everything else.
2. There is no forbidden language at IMF.
3. Your song must be released after 31 December,2001. Older songs are not able to participate.
4. Your singer must be older than 16 years.
5. No songs from the (Junior) Eurovision Song Contest are allowed.
6. An artist can participate twice in a row at IMF (also for the same or a different country), but has then to take a break of 1 edition.
7. Covers are allowed if they have been sent to the IBU (message @eurovisiongermany) which decided whether the song can participate or not. Covers do not include mashups/remixes.
8. Some nations can borrow from another nation, these are the nations which are able to borrow from their bigger neighbour:
Borrowing country I Allowed to borrow from
Aland Islands -> Finland
Andorra -> Spain
Faroe Islands -> Denmark
Greenland -> Denmark
Liechtenstein -> Germany
Monaco -> France
San Marino -> Italy
Tuvalu -> Australia
Vatican City -> Italy
8b. Some countries belong into the "vice-versa" situation:
Cyprus <-> Greece
Portugal <-> Brazil
Bosnia & Herzegovina <-> Serbia
8c. Kosovo is not able to borrow from Albania or Serbia.
9. Selection of your entry
9a. You can select your entry internal. For making it submitted, you have to post it in the Main Thread of the edition you are submitting the entry for. All entries received from YouTube will be published by one of the IBU members.
9b. You can host a national selection. The only condition is that all songs in the selection all valid to the general rules (1-8). You can decide about the schedule, the procedure, voting system, etc....
10. Voting
The voting is always in Eurovision Style. In case for a tie between two nations, the country with the bigger amount of countries voting for their entry get the higher place. If both have the same amount of countries voting for it, it will be looked which country got more 12 points, (if tie) 10 points etc. In the extremely unlikely event of there then still being a tie for first place, the song performed earliest in the running order is declared the winner, unless the host country performed first in the running order. The same tie-break rule now applies to ties for all places.
10a. The Top 6 of the previous edition is automatically qualified for the final of the upcoming edition. They will vote in the Semifinals. (2 in each Semifinal)
11. Best Of
After IMF #10,#20,#30,#40 etc. a "Best Of" will be held, where all ten winners fight again for the best winner of the last ten editions.
