Imo opinion Latvia has usually send weak songs. 2012 (although I loved it), 2013 and 2014 were rather weak. 2010 was a stronger song, but her voice was too weak live. 2011 was a big surprise to me, but 2011 had very strong songs in general. There were a lot of surprises like Turkey. Furthermore Latvia had more voting friends in the 1st semi than some of the qualifiers had. ^^

Honestly, apart from 2011, I can totally see why you failed in all of the recent years. And just to blame politics or to say "it's just because it's Latvia" isn't right imo. In this field of over-dramatic ballads and performances it's just not enough to send a rather amateurish campfire song that might be enjoyable for many people, but which is totally chanceless in this tough competition. Almost all countries would have failed with this entry I suppose (ok, maybe not Azerbaijan or Russia : . It's certainly true that small countries need to make more effort to do well than others, but just look at your neighbours Estonia or Lithuania. They have similar conditions and still manage to qualify often. You just need to send more professional entries, then nothing is impossible (like in 2005 or 2007, where you qualified from way bigger semi-finals and got good results in the end). If you will keep sending competitive songs, you will get rewarded once for sure. But with more "Here we go"s and "Cake To Bake"s we won't see Latvia in the final the next years either...

I just can't stop saying "butthurted Latvian". Nothing against you, but it really looks annoying, reading 10 pages only you defending and being angry about Latvia. You will not get to DSQ all the others in order to make Latvia qualify. Eurovision has to do much with luck too. Estonia did not had that, although it was a truley "amazing" performance. There are 10 pages (as you say) only because we had a discussion - if there wasn't this discussion, then there won't be more than 3 or 4 posts from my side... and don't blame me for this discussion, because I wasn't the only one who participates in it... Oh, and btw, you can skip those 10 pages if you don't want to read it...

In 2005 and 2007 till 2010 for the last time we had enough professional musicians participating, but when they year by year didn't get to represent Latvia, they just quit... This year I was wondering, why is Dons participating again - maybe he saw that there isn't professionals that could compete with him and decided to try once more, but after this year I think he won't participate anymore, because both years that he was the No.1 candidate on winning, he didn't... But even if he won, he wouldn't qualify imo... If something won't change radically in our NF, then you'll keep on seeing unprofessional (as you say) artists and performances, but our "ESC heads" don't seem to understand that there are some changes needed... But we always have got our best results not because of professional songs or artists, but because we try something that hasn't been used before (2002 (changes from a man to woman) & 2005 (sign language) or if we try something that similar or the same has been used someday, but isn't done often on ESC (2008 (pirates), 2006 (acapella) & 2007 (maybe the italian language was the one that people liked)... P.S. I'm very emotional person, so that's why I sometimes go too far with arguing... I'm sorry for wasting all these pages with "my problems", but if I argue, I do it till the end... that's what I am... this is also probably, why I don't have almost any real friend (I hope you understand, what I mean with real friend) - no one really likes me and it all started only because I was one of the smartest guys in the whole school so I was bullied (also I'm not that good looking, to attrack people)...

I think the problem is also at the HoD in Latvia. Once in an interview they said they definately want to continue at Eurovision, but their NS .... They have (imo) good songs like "Here I Am Again", "Stay", "Lights On", but they do fail ( ) ... I also dislike that the Televoting is shown live..

Yes, so you see, there's certainly potential (for example the artists you and others mentioned above), but it also depends on the ambitions of your broadcaster; apparently these national finals don't bring the "correct" results (by correct, which is something subjective of course, I mean a winner that actually has a chance in the contest), so the responsible people should maybe think of changing the system indeed, if they want to get a better result... Like picking an artist internally once or whatever. And btw, discussing and having little arguments is also the sense of a forum imo, so nothing wrong there

And btw, discussing and having little arguments is also the sense of a forum imo, so nothing wrong there Yes, I'd also like that we at least once try internal selection, when we first find the best song (or the best possible artist) and only then find the best artist for this song (or write the song for selected artist)... but I don't think that will happen soon, so in 3 years you'll see us breaking Netherlands' anti-record of non-qualifications (8 times)
