 Dýria recognises  Niolskiaj and  Corzazjan as independent countries!
Today, the Dýrian government has recognized both Corzazjan and Niolskiaj as independent countries and the successor states of both  Beklium and  Evamaa.
The announcement comes after both countries confirmed their participation in the 11th edition of the contest for the first time ever. The Dýrian president, Ingibjörg Egilsdóttir, announced:
"Dýria gives it's full recognition to both Corzazjan and Niolskiaj as independent states. Once both countries have settled in, we would love to develop ties to both of these countries and I am eager to meet their first ever presidents/heads of state.
On behalf of the Dýrian population, we welcome you into Fantasia."
The government announced that citizens of the former states of Beklium and Evamaa who have been residing in Dýria for a period of 4 years or more could now apply for Dýrian citizenship and a Dýrian passport.
Alternatively, those who don't reside in the country permanently can of course apply for citizenship of Corzazjan and Niolskiaj.
Dýria will accept Beklian and Evamaien passports used by citizens who are currently awaiting their Corzazjan and Niolskiaj passports until February 2018. By then, the passports of Beklium and Evamaa will not be accepted anymore. This is to allow time for the governments to issue passports to their citizens.
And finally, the Dýrian, Irsan and Foreju dictionaries now include translations for the countries;

News from  LidoniaPolitics Plebiscites end in defeats for current government
The two latest plebiscites ended in defeats for the current government, whose preferred choices didn't end up as most voted choices. At the two plebiscites in early december the voters were firstly asked whether they wish to accept the Nordo as new currency in Lidonia and one week later whether the death penalty should be introduced. The first vote ended in a close win for the supporters of the Nordo, wth 51,02% of the voters voting for the introduction of a new currency. Therefore the Nordo will be Lidonia's new currency from the 1st of Jnauary 2018 on. The 2nd plebiscite one week later ended with a way clearer result. 67,35% of the voters were against the introduction of the death penalty, which therfore won't be introduced. Both results are let downs for the IPL, with both results going against their stances. The next test for the parties will be the NU election on the 21st of January, the recent polls suggest another defeat for the, currently, leading party in Lidonia.
Governemnt reacts to new countries
As a young state themselves, the government of Lidonia was fast to announce the recognation of the new states flagniolskaj Niolskaj as successor of Evämaa, and Corzazjan, the successor state of Beklium. "We want to let both states know that we fully support them, and that they can always rely on us" the government says in a official press statement.
The repective names of the states in Cerkan will be Niovyskaja and Korsasyan, while the Voxanyan ones will be Nielskai and Korsastan. SocietyPreparations to welcome 2018 are in full swing
2018 is coming, and Lidonia will of course fully celebrate the end of a troubleful last year. The past days were mostly used to remember the happenings of last year, from the military coup to the mass panic and the elections. But now the majority looks forward, and the year shall, in the eyes of the most, end with a bang. The laws only allow to sell fireworks in the last 3 days of the year, and thus the run on them is even larger. Even lines ahead of the super market are common these days. The big cities also prepare for their big parties, in Nakopek under strict obligations, to avoid a similar occurance as at the football public viewing. But also Yllöven or Estport have their big parties,
including musical guests such as iiris, Lanberry, Chinaski, but also international celebrities as  Venior,  Siames or  Ines Brasil will perform.

New Countries
The foreign ministry recently released a statement on twattir, announcing that Lanovina officially recognises Niolskiaj (Niolskan) and Corzazjan (Korsasian). Chancellor Stoll-Escherpes stated in a public message, that the Lanovian government is looking forward to work with both countries, especially Niolskiaj as a  NU member state.
Lidonian Referendums
The Green-Left government stated satisfaction with both voting results, pointing out that "a strong Nordo is good for the union" and that it is glad about the Lidonian public choosing "human values" over cruel punishment. The Chancellor also added, that she hopes the new Niolskiaj government will overthink Evämaa's decision of voting against the Nordo, since Niolskiaj and  Ruyjin Republic are the only union members without the Nordo.
Earthquake in  Shinkoyu
Several political figures have announced their condolences and support for the country. A lot of national celebrities, such as talkshow queen Ellen DeGeneres as well as Lanovina's Drag Superstar  Bianca Del Rio, have given to charity to support Shinkoyu while also asking their fans to do the same.

 SHOWBIZ & CULTURE With the year coming to an end, TV shows have been at the forefront of the media, with several popular television shows coming to a conclusion and music festivals taking place.
CILJETA WINS KËNGA MAGJIKE 2017

Runner up Elhaida Dani and third placing Egzona Ademi.One of the two most prestigious music festivals in Glaray alongside Festivali i Këngës, Kënga Magjike’s 2017 festival saw Ciljeta’s traditionally-influenced ballad “Hajmali” emerge victorious with a narrow 23 point lead over runner up Elhaida Dani. Egzona Ademi finished in third, Fifi in fourth and Blerina Braka in fifth. Rovena Dilo, Anxhela Peristeri, Samanta Karavella, Fjolla Morina & Blasta and Majlinda Ciqaki rounded out the Top 10.
Once again, the show generated significant interest abroad, with over five million streams of the live broadcast on the show’s website. Domestically, the festival was once again a hit as 2.95mil and 3.04mil tuned into the first and second nights of the festival and 7.17mil tuning into the grand final. Ratings in Eldance were once again impressive, with 68 million Eldancans tuning in to the show, an increase of 3 million from the previous year.
As expected, many of the songs from the festival are on the country’s charts, and some of the entrants are expected to express interest in the upcoming edition of the Fantasia Contest.
CHRISSY HOFBECK WINS SURVIVOR Glaray’s most popular television show concluded this week with Survivor: Tarifa (filmed in Tarifa, Aquia) crowning Chrissy Hofbeck as the Sole Survivor in a 8-0-0 vote against Dorina Krasniqi and Keith Varta. The 46-year-old actuary defied the stereotype of older women in the game, seizing control and dominating throughout a large portion of the season.
Overall, the finale drew 7.41 million viewers, making it one of the highest rated television broadcasts this year. The show’s thirty sixth season, Survivor: Fans vs First Boots, is set to return at the end of February next year.
FESTIVALI I KËNGËS 56 CROWNS MARIZA IKONOMI AS WINNER The other prestigious Imerian language festival, Festival i Këngës, recently took place, crowning Mariza Ikonomi and her song “Unë” as the winner. Inis Neziri, Eugent Bushpepa, Artemisa Mithi and Manjola Nallbani rounded out the top five. Ikonomi currently holds the top spot on the Glaraian charts.
The festival’s first and second semi finals drew 3.16mil and 2.95mil viewers, with the final attracting 6.93mil, a significant increase from last year’s festival.
Rules around the festival has meant competing songs are ineligible to enter the Fantasia Contest, however competing artists have intended to place bids for the upcoming edition.
NEW YEARS CELEBRATIONS IN GLARAY As usual, preparations for New Years Eve celebrations have begun across the country. Traditions in the country, which see a television broadcast and countdown followed by the lighting of a single firework and the release of paper lights, are expected to take place as usual. |

 No border for the wildlife?

During a conference held in Eldance with the minister of environment, the two nations have decided not to build a literal wall in order to pass from a country to another. This entire wall-thingy was not received well by both parties and even the population due to multiple reasons that might affect the relations between the two nations in a negative way.
One of the reasons why the border-wall is cut and not taken in consideration anymore? Wildlife conservation.
Over the past century, the Alkyrian wildlife was struggling to recover after the mass extinction they had to endure after the kingdom was on the verge of collapsing due to internal wars and food crisis. Recent surveys claim that over 85% of the wildlife at that point had become extinct, among them being the iconic Alkyrian Dodo Bird.
Alongside the neighbouring nation, United States of Eldance, which suffered problems after the empire decayed, decided to put on the first plan regarding wildlife conservation - and eventually tracking down all the potential remaining species on the verge of extinction in order to save them. The project based in Apella noticed the fact that most of the native species used to pass unintentionally the border, in order to find water sources & conditions of life and would return to their native country for shelter and even reproduction, among them being the koalas.
Eldyrian Koalas suffered a major collapse after the Kallitian war, remaining only 750 in the entire Fantasia. Being the smallest subspecies doesn't really give you the biggest disadvantages, however poaching among others managed to reduce them significantly from 300.000 at that period.
Being known as calm, peaceful and cute creatures, the first attempts to save the koalas from extinction started during the Eldancan Empire, after the former king of the Kallitian kingdom requested it through a letter. Experts in conservation at that time decided to go along with it, forming the actual IPESF on the actual Alkyrian territory, and from there it remains history.
The koalas managed the recover incredibly fast, with almost 45.000 living in the wild and found nearby the borders between Alkyria & Eldance. Recently, the project decided to name the subspecies "Eldyrian", being more prevalent between the northern region of Alkyria & southern region of Eldance - Eldyrian in itself being a combination of the names of both nations.
Once with the wall taken off, the relations grew stronger, and in the upcoming days the statistics regarding wildlife in Fantasia will be counted & carefully analyzed in detail.
During 2017, despite the global warming and the other factors being a major problem in Fantasia, the extinction rate was pretty low (only 3 notable sub-species being extinct and 1 species being unconfirmed to this date). The most affected were the plants and amphibians, which started decreasing due to global warming. Furthermore, the underwater wildlife chances is starting to become even more problematic, because of the high level of fishing & increasingly high temperatures.
What will 2018 bring for Fantasia regarding environment and increasing battle with the global warming? We don't know. But we'll take action. |
