Malta confirms participation in the upcoming North Vision Song Contest 25!
The HoD annouced plans regarding Maltese participation in today's morning programme:
"We are pretty sad, that The New Victorians didn't make it to the Grand
Final, but of course we don't give up. For the upcoming edition we'll organise
National Selection to choose our act. The method of the selection will be
announced in the following weeks. We hope, that our selection can be a starting point
for the new singers. Also we believe, that more countries will follow
the selection and the contest. Shortly, I can say, that our
selection will have the same name [Maltese Warrior] and a new format!"
A month ago, followers of the NVSC Malta account on Twitter were able to see
this post:
Today, at the TV Show HoD announced that it is true. Everyone can send
their suggestion to Co-HoD of the country - Dominykas .

Today, RTP has confirmed Portugal's participation in the 25th edition of the North Vision Song Contest. Despite failing to qualify after its return, the country will not give up! The entrant will be selected once again via an internal selection.

 DMGP 20 playlist released early — Denmark confirms participation! According to reports from DR, the entries for DMGP 20 would be released in about a week, on 6 April 2018. However, the DMGP 20 album was released earlier on Spotify, resulting to the leak of the selection's entries. Despite the leak, only users in the Nordics are currently able to access them via the streaming service. Nevertheless, DR decided to officially publish all the details regarding the upcoming edition of DMGP. DANSK MELODI GRAND PRIX 20 Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 20 is expected to start next week, a week earlier than it was planned to start. As the 20th anniversary edition of the competition, the selection will be hosted by three NVSC/DMGP alumni: Elize Ryd from Amaranthe (NVSC 4 and 11 winners), Aura Dione (NVSC 3, 7 and 20 entrant) and Tim Schou (NVSC 10 entrant). The selection will take place in Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, which will be hosting the contest for the 6th time making it the venue with the highest number of hostings along with B&W Hallerne.
Despite initial plans of having the talent show format that was used in the tenth edition, it was eventually decided to keep the format used in the past two editions; there will be a final with 10 songs competing with the winner being determined through a jury/televoting system. The juries for the edition will be selected via an application phase.THE PLAYLIST As shown below, there are 10 songs competing in the 20th edition of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. National selection will be held to choose the Icelandic entry!
Today, RÚV has announced that they will be holding a national selection to choose the Icelandic act for the 25th edition of North Vision Song Contest. This early announcement came as a shock for many, as they did not expect the broadcaster to confirm any news about a selection process until the 24th edition ended. This will be the third edition in a row that Iceland will select their participant through a national selection. Söngvakeppnin has had success for the country since it's introduction in the 7th edition; from #7-9, Iceland qualified to the final (with a 10th, and two 24th places respectively), in #23 Hildur failed to qualify, placing 13th, and in the 24th edition, Iceland qualified.
New Format
Among other news, RÚV has also announced that they will be revamping their national selection.
While the current format has brought the country success, the broadcaster feels that it is time for a change and the HoD confirmed this today in an interview on RÚV;
The selection will be changed for the 25th edition. Not only because it is the 25th edition, but we also feel that it could use a revamp. Among the things confirmed, the name will remain the same. However, the format will change; there will be more songs and no juries. In addition to that, we will also have a foreign act for the first time."
RÚV will not change the name of the selection, but will change the amount of songs that will participate. In the first round, the broadcaster plans to have at least 10 or 12 songs, which will then be eliminated to 5 or 6. It's unknown as of yet whether or not semi finals will be held, but this will be revealed in due course.
And for the first time, RÚV has revealed that they will indeed invite 1 foreign act to participate in the selection. Rumours are currently suggesting that this singer will come from a Nordic country.

Morocco confirms for the upcoming edition
Aïn Sebaâ, Casablanca - March 31, 2000WEST
The broadcaster 2M confirmed today at a press conference in their headquarters in Aïn Sebaâ
that the country will continue to be present in the North Vision Song Contest, as preparations
are underway for the closing of the twenty-fourth edition in Austria.
Many local journalists and associates of 2M, however, were concerned that the broadcaster was preparing
to withdraw from the contest. This rumour was due to the commencing of negotiations within the Moroccan
delegation, as many of its members wish to depart in order to pursue other endeavours, while a reshuffling
of duties between the remaining members of the delegation is impending.
All current members of the delegation agree that they are committed to continuing Morocco's successful and
positive participation in the contest. The head of the Moroccan delegation said the following in today's
conference:
"It is indeed saddening to see many of us leaving the delegation, but nevertheless we are all still fully
determined to promoting the Moroccan music scene, both native and diasporic, and we are proud that
2M is still able to serve as the nation's ambassador through the North Vision Song Contest. The coming
weeks, or even months, will not be easy for the delegation or broadcaster. Discussions have only just
begun on our [the delegation's] future, and it is unclear what progress will be made at this time."
A journalist asked an important question about the arrangements for the twenty-fifth edition. The head of the
delegation was asked: "What if the talks stall during the next edition, or Morocco has added responsibility in
the contest such as hosting the PQR or autoqualifying with Faouzia?"
His response was clear; if Morocco has extra responsibility to take on, the delegation will be run as a
coalition - with new and old members - in order to ensure Morocco's smooth participation. However, if talks
run easier than expected, the new delegation will take full control and participate independently.
Regardless of the outcome, Morocco will choose their entry via internal selection for the foreseeable future to
aid the smooth delegation transition. The entry will depend on the outcome of the talks, and Faouzia's result
in Austria.

LRT, the Lithuanian national broadcaster has confirmed today its nation's presence at the upcoming 25th edition of the North Vision Song Contest!
