Belarus Confirms for the 31st edition of NVSC

After qualifying to the final despite the low odds, the ratings are at all time high in

Belarus after 6 edition Non-qualification streak. The small national selection will be used once again but the format of it is still unknown the Belarussian HOD said this in interview:

We are very happy that Bianka made it to the final after such a low odds and while she isn't predicted to be finishing up very high, we are still very proud of her and we wish her lot of luck. The National selection is going to be a smaller one once again but the we haven't decided with CO-HOD on the method.

More news to be revealed later.

San Marino confirms participation!

San Marino RTV CONFIRMS participation in NVSC #31.

Despite not qualifying for the final show #30,
the small country confirms its presence in the next edition!

We do not yet know the results of our semi-final,
but regardless of PQR or not, we will be present,
we are convinced that

Valentina Ploy did not deserve the elimination, but we are aware of the fact that this possibility is to be taken into consideration.

The HoD: We are evaluating several proposals with a competent jury, we will choose internally or in the case of many valid proposals,
we will create a small selection like the last Festival dei Castelli.
The Titan does not give up, on the contrary it will be renewed edition by edition.

ICELAND CONFIRMS!

RÚV, the

Icelandic broadcaster, has just confirmed this evening that

Iceland would be taking part in the 31st edition of the North Vision Song Contest.

After a pleasant return to the grand final with North Vision veterans

Of Monsters and Men, there was absolutely no doubt that

Iceland would be competing in the 31st edition. The odds are currently good for

Iceland, however the broadcaster has stated that regardless of the result, they are extremely proud of the band for making it to the final. Viewing figures released by RÚV suggest that the interest in the contest is rising and for that reason withdrawing is never an option.

In a statement this evening on RÚV, the head of delegation,

Dýri Brjánsson, commented that:
We are very excited to be back in the grand final, even if it was just an edition out. We have seen so many positive comments towards our entry and we are glad that Of Monsters and Men has gotten such a good reception in the rest of Europe. After we qualified to the final again last Saturday, it was pretty obvious that Iceland would take part in the next edition. As a team, we have vowed to not disappoint the Icelandic fans, so even thinking of a withdrawal for no good reason is unacceptable.

Of course, there were some questions asked about how

Iceland would be selecting it's act, given that many fans were surprised the broadcaster brought back Ferðin til... however Mr Brjánsson stated that:
While our national selection worked in the 30th edition, it was brought back to mainly celebrate the fact that North Vision has made it to 30 editions already, and so it had to be special in one way or the other. However, we aren't ruling out another edition of Ferðin til... until we see the grand final results in 2020; when we see our result, we will have a better idea of what to do.

With that,

RÚV hasn't confirmed how it will choose it's entry for the upcoming edition. However, regardless of this submissions are currently open to all artists interested, and the selection method will be decided after the grand final results of North Vision #30.

Latvia confirms!

Despite the shocking elimination of our queen Dana Sokolova in semi-final of the 30th edition, Latvia will try again to reach the final for the first time since February 2018. Here is the reaction of the President of the Selection Committee after the results of the semi-final:

We worked hard on our selection, and we thought we had a real chance not only to reach the final but to get a good result this edition. Unfortunately, and despite her great victory in our national final among a strong selection, Dana's entry was obviously misunderstood. We were very surprised by the icy cold betting odds and extremely disappointed by our elimination.

However, we have no choice but to launch our national selection for edition #31 exactly as we planned. It would definitely had been more comfortable if we had succeeded in getting an AQ spot or at least a place in final, and it will be extremely unfortunate if we have to fight in PQR for the third time in five editions but there is absolutely no plan B. As you know, our financial support is only available for next edition, and my mandate as Head of Delegation of Latvia could end just after the 31st edition.

So we will do everything we can in order to offer to Latvian people their first final in more than two years.

THE FAROE ISLANDS WITHDRAW

This morning, Faroese broadcaster KVF confirmed that the small Nordic country will not be taking part in the upcoming North Vision Song Contest. Recently, the broadcaster had great financial issues with the NBU and the poor results of the country lowered the viewing figures to a record minimum. A future participation has not been ruled out by the broadcaster.
