THE UNITED KINGDOM CHOSE ITS ENTRANT!
DECLAN MCKENNA WINS NORTHVISION: YOUR DECISION 31

London – This evening the UK public and an international jury chose the British representative for NVSC 31. With 1901 points Declan McKenna won the selection "Northvision: Your Decision". His song "Beautiful Faces" won the jury's vote and placed 4th in the Televoting. He therefore recevied 97 points more than the runner-up Sophie and the Giants (Break the Silence). Georgia and her song "Never Let You Go" placed 3rd with 1778 points. The televoting winner "Barcelona" (by Twin Atlantic) placed 4th due to the low points received from the jury voting. BBC has revealed that the winner would've been the same with the old voting method.

21 year-old Declan McKenna is an English singer/songwriter from Enfield (Greater London). He made his debut in 2014 with his single "Brazil", a protest song criticising FIFA and the 2014 FIFA World Cup held in Brazil.

His song for NVSC, Beautiful Faces, is described as “a brave new anthem for doomed youth” and a song “about young people in the modern world and how intimidating it can be. How scary it is to see so much and feel as though you’re doing so little.” It'll the lead single of his upcoming album "Zero".

Speaking about the song, McKenna said:

“I wanted it to be a big song…Scary big. It very much relates to now, but I wanted to reimagine social media in this future-sphere where it has become even more immersive so that we cannot see where it ends and we begin.”

Globalnews.ca describes the song as a "must-hear".

THE BELGIAN PEARL ANNOUNCED!

Brussels, 22 February 2020

This afternoon the Belgian song for the thirty-first North Vision Song Contest has been unveiled. It was also revealed that the Flemish broadcaster VRT accepted the responsibility for selecting their representative to Lillehammer and scoured the land for artists keen to add North Vision to their CV. Many meetings have taken place among artists, producers and journalists to select a suitable candidate for the upcoming contest. The song along with the lucky artist was officially presented in VRT buildings. It will subsequently be played across several radio stations over the course of the day.

PORTLAND

Portland is a Belgian indie dream-pop band. Their timeless and melancholic songs mix singer-songwriter elements with electronics. They merge with the beautiful vocals of Jente Pironet and Sarah Pepels. They will represent their homeland in the Norwegian city of Lillehammer. Group members made the official announcement during Saturday's edition of the TV chat show Vandaag. Portland might embrace the melancholy, but they incorporate lush male-female harmonies into their sound as Pironet and Pepels manage so effortlessly. Their North Vision Song Contest entry, "You Misread Me" is a promising sign that Portland can grow, too. It takes the band further from the classic dream-pop label. Bluesy riffs and funky percussion definitely step their game up.

A close race in the start was overtaken by the domination of Eefje by the public, resulting in 13 sets of 12 points. The unknown acts of Veline and Hypergoods come in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Elliot to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Following several internal discussions in the delegation, it was decided that the electronic duo Elliot will represent

Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 31st edition of North Vision Song Contest!

Elliot is a duo from the Bosnian city of

Mostar and consists of Jasmina Šuta and Miran Kapor. The project is new to the musical scene of the country (although Jasmina was part of the Bosnian band Floridus) but their fresh and modern work is ready to deliver its best for the contest!

The song that will represent the country in

Lillehammer is "Vrijeme", which means "Time"! Jasmina and Miran themselves composed the song and their inspiration was the speed of daily life in which the beauty of little things goes by without us noticing. "Vrijeme" is also about desire and the hesitation from connecting.

Montenegrin hopeful revealed!

As the submission deadline for the 31st edition of the North Vision Song Contest is nearly reached, the Montenegrin public broadcaster RTCG revealed the hopeful for the country in a short intermission on the official channel and throughout all the Montenegrin radio stations. A totally fresh start for the new Head of Delegation, this entry promises the North Vision viewers a sound that has never been heard in the contest before.

It's Igor Garnier & LuckyDee for Montenegro!

Meet "LuckyDee" Lazar Gregovic.

The pioneer of Montenegrin house scene - LuckyDee is an artist to watch out in 2020!

After successful collaboration with talented violinist - Milos Boskovic Violin on his club anthem "G" and working with almost every major DJ from Freemasons, ATFC, Roger Sanchez to X-Press 2, Marting Solveig, Tom Novy, Robbie Rivera, Mike Candy, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Niki Belucci & Bang La Decks.

LuckyDee is constantly pushing the limits of various genres from Deep house to funky, tech and progresive house. He also collaborated on MTV Adria hit tune "ReggaetonMontenegro" with Who See and did an exclusive remix for them which proved his great diversity and unique style in music production.
He attended various festivals like Sea Dance, Refresh Festival, Spring Break Montenegro
Bedem Fest, Koktel Fest BG, Thunder Fest, May Fest, Montenegro Colour Festival and many more...
With his two colleagues, he made the electro music trio – Stereo Ambasada, and they became one of biggest names in Montenegrin music industry.

In this track, he will be accompanied by the Serbian DJ Igor Garnier.

Despite the unknown industry of our country, after closing the song submissions, we decided that this track would currently be the best pick for us. I know that the general audience of North Vision isn't really familiar with this sound, but we hope that the risk we take will pay off in Lillehammer. I hope you like our entry, and best of luck to Igor and Luckydee!
