The pending statuses of the 2020 participants for 2021

Shame on every broadcaster who doesn't invite the performers back

Is there an understandable reason why some of them don't want to stick with their 2020 entrant?

I guess it's much easier for countries that picked their entries internally to pick the same artist again. For other countries, like Albania, Italy, Sweden or so on, where the National Final is like a festival which traditionally takes place every year, it is probably harder to go for the same artist again, as that would imply changing a tradition that had been going on for years due to the cancellation of the contest...

I still think the fairest thing to do is to give the artists the chance to represent their countries. It isn't really fair for them, especially knowing they went through a lot of rehearsals and put a lot of effort in order to win the National Final in their countries. However, at the end it's up to the broadcasters to decide, whether we like it or not. In any case, hoping that the artists chosen get their chance; like imagine Samanta Tina who had been trying for so many years to represent Latvia not to get her chance just because the broadcaster might want to host Supernova again... (stating her as an example as she's been trying for quite a lot of years to go to ESC ).

Some national selections get very large TV ratings in their countries (MelFest being the prime example here) and the broadcasters don’t want to miss out on these for a year.
