Despite a disappointing bottom-five placement achieved in  Port Louis, LRT has just confirmed that  Libya will be participating in the fifth edition of the Own Africavision Song Contest, set to be held in  South Africa. The broadcaster stated in a press release that popularity among the local public towards the contest is at an all-time high and one failure is not a valid excuse to withdraw. The search for the next Libyan representative is underway, with several acts being considered by LRT at the moment. However, insiders reported that the broadcaster is in advanced discussions with a well-known singer from the diaspora community. An official confirmation regarding the artist and song selection will be made in due course.

I decided to withdraw from the contest. There are two main reasons that led to my decision: - First of all, I showed interest for Réunion from the beginning of the contest and the answer was that dependent territories would be open to confirmation once all countries have been filled. I didn't receive any message about any evolution of that statement and I wasn't informed about any interest for Réunion by anyone else until the day I discovered like everyone that Reunion was in the contest. I discovered that a player who never took part to any previous edition was apparently interested by Réunion from before the contest was even created. I don't know if this is true or not, but that doesn't change the fact that I should have been informed so I wouldn't have wasted my time searching songs from a country that was already given to someone else. The only answer was that I can confirm with Mayotte instead, but I'm not interested by Mayotte and I didn't work on Mayotte but on Réunion. - The second reason already led to my withdrawal from 3rd edition. I was quite shocked by some results from the two first editions but I decided to give a last chance to the contest. But this time was way worse. These results are a complete nonsense. I don't want to be associated to a contest where a completely troll entry gets an AQ spot while valuable entries don't even get through the semi-finals. Maybe I'll come back if I see real and deep evolutions in the future but that seems extremely unlikely.  Madagascar is free. Good luck to the remaining participants. |

Well the last available countries debuted in the third edition already, so ofc we allowed Réunion debut now. We agreed that it’s the only territory allowed to take part for now, unless someone is really interested in Saint Helena or Mayotte for example. About who showed interest first, I really don’t know as I am not the host of the contest, but does it really matter now? The troll entry got 5th, does that mean that every country who finished below it should withdraw? And imo you did pretty decent in the previous edition. But I respect your decision of course, so no hard feelings. Best of luck and thanks for taking part and for the banger that you sent last edition!

I'm not a host but, you can't expect the hosts to pay attention if every country debuted to tell you if you can debut Réunion, they are busy and probably they won't remember these minor details, i think if you were interested, you should've paid attention when all the countries debuted and then ask if you can finally confirm with it now that every country debuted bcs it's not hosts' job to tell you.
I mean, i was interested in Belize and Pakistan and they opened the confirmations when i was asleep so i didn't get them and i didn't withdrew just for that lol.

RTB have announced that they will, yet again, be selecting their entry internally and is already in contact with several artists who are in contention of representing us . RTB are aiming to achieve another great result, since government spending towards the contest has increased due to the popularity of it ! Expect more news very very soon in regards to our entry... |
