ICELAND RETURNS TO NORTHVISION!
Reykjavik, Iceland - RÚV (Ríkisútvarpið) has confirmed on their Facebook page that Iceland will be returning to the North Vision Song Contest after missing the 21st and 22nd editions, due to financial problems. During the 22nd edition, the former HoD has left to manage another country in North Vision, and so the position was filled immediately.
The new HoD Dýri Brjánsson and Co-HoD Jósh Allísson arrived in Reykjavik to confirm the news in a press conference, speaking about future plans and ideas for Iceland.
"We're so happy to be here today. I just can't believe it! Now after 2 editions of absence, Iceland is ready to return with a strong attitude towards the contest. The interest has risen once more and we look forward for the future."
There are currently rumours of a national selection, as the interest for a return of Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins is very high.
So as you can see, a swap occurred between me and Asi in which I will get Iceland and he will get Bulgaria. I'm very excited and very happy to finally get Iceland in NVSC as I first applied for it in 2015, lost the draw, and then the opportunity for a swap came in 2016. Now, one year on, it will occur. Added on to that, I always wanted Iceland in the contest so here we go..
So I know Anton and Mark and others made posts like this, so I'm gonna make one!
My NVSC journey started in May 2014, with Jan asking me if I wanted Croatia. I accepted, because I really wanted to be in NVSC (and knowing now I could have gotten Iceland if I waited.. but yolo ). Obviously I had little knowledge of the Croatian music scene but thanks to suggestions (especially from Daniel and lazarkoo ) I got off to a good start!
#10 was an amazing edition for me. I was able to get 10th place on my debut, and alongside that I got Croatia's best placing till then! I still prefer Turkey as the winner tho *troll*
#11 - I hosted a big NS but got shortened in the later stages because floppy organization. The winner was my favourite but when it was announced.. bleh. I even thought at one stage I'd be in the PQR, but it turns out I came 6th in the end (again, getting Croatia's best result). I was still upset tho, that I literally got kicked out of the top 6 at the last vote
#12 was an interesting edition, but not the best. I loved the design that time, but my result wasn't any better.. last in the SF. That was my lowest result until then but I still adored my song until the very end
But then #13 came along. I was amazed when I qualified from the PQR but some people wanted to change that and even hoped that the votes were wrong so Malta would make it. Too bad sweeties but your wish wasn't granted xoxox
I got 5th in the end, which I consider was my best edition till then. I still can't believe it. #13 was my favourite edition for that time Another AQ came in #14 at the LAST minute (ty Tias ). #15 was interesting in terms of songs. But I still have the record low amount of points in the final, 22
#16 was my last "great" edition with Croatia. I hosted a NS, qualified to the final but even with people liking the song I got only 24th, and tied with Bratni.. (sorry Mihai but I still don't like the song )
#17-18 weren't too interesting for Croatia. #18 was a bad edition for me as I didn't even make it out of the PQR.. but then James asked if I wanted to swap to Bulgaria. Being bored of Croatia and wanting something new, I decided to accept it. And then starting with a new country that I thought I'd never take on - Bulgaria. I was confident, and found over 100 songs for the country. It isn't as hard as you think!
#19 was an amazing edition in design and songs. I really enjoyed it. I was again a bit down when I was so close to the top 6 but 7th is amazing! #20 was great too, regardless of the result I still love Ruth's music and "Oceans" specifically.
And then #21 came.. wow. I never thought in a million years I'd win NVSC. At the start, I got the highest betting odd in NVSC (2.13) yet (?) but I still didn't think I was gonna win. The results came and went, but I still can't believe it. I am in the council for the 22nd edition and I am so happy to be the host this edition. I'm glad you all liked the design and I hope you all enjoy the rest of the edition! I will never forget my win in NVSC, and in all honesty.. I never expected to win NVSC before FC. But look what happens. Thank you all once more, ly
Whatever happens with Bulgaria now, will be under Asi's management. If a top 6 result is the outcome, Asi will be able to take part there. I wish you the best with Bulgaria as I know you really wanted it. I could have waited longer, but I have waited nearly 2 years for Iceland, I'm too excited! So, after many editions of being in the Balkan Area, I have now moved up north. Now I could be a Nordic Bitch finally
