ICELAND WILL PARTICIPATE!
 Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV), the Icelandic broadcaster, has just confirmed that Iceland will be participating in the 29th edition of North Vision Song Contest. This comes as no surprise given that the interest levels in Iceland are very high. Iceland has participated every edition since their return in #23 due to high interest levels and a change in management.
After Valdimar's surprise qualification with their song Of Seint, which qualified from the 2nd semi-final, there was doubt that Iceland would be sending an entry to the next edition. The broadcaster released an official statement regarding the upcoming edition:
After Valdimar qualifying to the final, we're still in shock. Iceland was predicted to end in the pre-qualification round and we were fully prepared for such a scenario, but instead the opposite happened. No matter what result Valdimar achieve in the final, it is an honour to compete in the grand final. With the positive result, we can confirm that Iceland will be sending an entry as usual, as we have no reason not to.
The HoD of Iceland,  Dýri Brjánsson, also appeared on RÚV to speak about the upcoming edition. Among the many questions that were asked, the obvious one was how the Icelandic act would be selected. Originally, RÚV had no plans to return to a national selection format, however after qualifying to the grand final, fans were still skeptical. Mr. Brjánsson made a comment relating to these questions:
While we are still celebrating our surprise qualification, there have been serious discussions regarding a return to the national selection format. However, at this stage it looks unlikely to happen due to a lack of interest and structural problems relating to the national selection. However, nothing has been confirmed yet, and we'll let you know once we have definitive information.
While nothing has been confirmed about the selection process, interested artists are encouraged to send their songs to RÚV regardless, since the submissions have just opened. They will likely remain opened until the end of July 2019.

Montenegro confirms for NVSC 29!18/06/2019 • PodgoricaMAiKA's qualification to the grand final in  Bern marks the end of a 14 edition long non-qualification streak for  Montenegro, and was met with suitable celebration across the country. Very optimistic looking betting odds saw viewing figures for the second semi-final reach an all-time high for the contest in Montenegro, and it is expected that the grand final's viewing figures will be one of the largest of the decade.
Consequently, there was no doubt that RTCG would confirm for the 29th edition, regardless of the result achieved by MAiKA and their song "River Sava", and as per usual under the newest delegation team, the decision was made to confirm as early as possible. A spokesperson for the broadcaster said, "Interest for the contest in Montenegro is growing more and more as the editions pass, and as such there is no way we're going to withdraw. We are exceptionally pleased with MAiKA finally bringing us back to the final after such a long period of time away, and hope we can keep going from strength to strength in the contest!"
The statement revealed nothing about the selection format for the next edition, but rumours suggest that a decision will be made following a submission period, in which artists from Montenegro and beyond are invited to submit potential entries. Following the cancellation of Northvizija Crna Gora last edition for unspecified reasons, sources believe that an internal selection is the most likely option at this point.

Montenegro started their North Vision journey fairly successfully, with Savo Perović's "Iznenađenje" reaching the final and finishing in 20th place. However, this would become one of Montenegro's only four final appearances, and the following 8 edition saw non-qualifications and one withdrawal. The 10th edition brought some surprising and much needed success, and "Odlazim" by Andrea Demirović winning the semi-final and then coming 5th in the grand final brought an unlikely automatic qualification to the Montenegrin track record.
The first and only Montenegrin AQ was widely celebrated, and Jelena Tomašević put up a respectable performance of her entry "Radio Svira Za Nas" and gave the country another 20th place. A withdrawal followed in the 12th edition, but Jelena Kažanegra oversaw the Montenegrin return for NVSC 13 and reached what would be Montenegro's last final to date, finishing in 23rd place. Goga Sekulić and Jasmin Jusić's "Vuče, Lopove" came close to qualifying in the following edition, and a respectable 12th in the semi-final followed from "Preventiva" by Anabela and Boban Rajović, as well as another 11th place in the semi-final in the 27th edition from SPACETRAIN's instrumental piece "An Ode to Music".
But ultimately it was Balkan group MAiKA who broke the lengthy non-qualification streak in the 28th edition with their upbeat ethnic-inspired song "River Sava" to the jubilation of Montenegrin North Vision fans. |

 RTP announces that the current Head of Delegation is stepping down from the role permanently. A new HoD is expected to be announced shortly.I am leaving NVSC. It has been really amazing in the past with both Romania and Portugal and I'm very happy I got to be a part of this contest for so many editions. I wish good luck to the next player of Portugal and to everyone else in the contest! INTERNAL CHANGES IN RTP
This morning, the Portuguese broadcaster, RTP, announced that there would be internal changes in the contest delegation. It was not until now that a new head of delegation was announced (me, basically). Appart from the head of delegation, the entire team has been changed as well.
The delegation has also announced that the entry for the 29th edition of the contest has been selected internally. It's entirely in Portuguese and it's different from any other entry Portugal has ever sent to the contest.
As you know, I've always wanted to have Portugal in the contest. Although it's true that I've been privileged for having the United Kingdom, I've never felt it the same way I'm feeling Portugal now, and at some point, I would have even preferred to keep Armenia. I hope that the effort I've put into the United Kingdom is also taken into consideration, since, even if it might not be something evident, I've put a lot of work in the selections I've created for the UK.
I've been criticized a lot about what decisions I could take regarding the UK in the contest and it's something that has always taken me back from taking any of them, but I've noticed that y'all will criticize me anyway so I'd rather have a country I'm the most comfortable instead of staying with another one which is fine but the possibility of a switch is there.
The United Kingdom has also been transferred to another head of delegation. This has been allowed since what happened with the Portuguese head of delegation was a withdrawal and not a switch. The United Kingdom has been given to someone who will definitely put a lot of effort as well into the country (I'm pretty sure that even more than me).
