with her song:

I JUST CAN'T FALL IN LOVE

Loula is a singer and musician who surprises with her clean but edgy voice. As a kid she taught herself how to play almost every instrument. Basically she could join her own band now. In an ideal situation this band would contain dinosaurs, loads of chips, R&B dancers and a karaoke set for everyone to join. Singing is what she feels most connected with. Loula is showing you her love for 80’s, 90’s pop in a contemporary way.

We wish the best of luck to the winner NVSC #31 in Luxembourg City!

BELGIUM HAS CHOSEN!

Brussels, 17 May 2020

Two Belgian broadcasters, Walloon RTBF and Flemish VRT agreed on the need of enhanced cooperation, improvement of country's results in the contest and refreshing the selection method. As a result of the implemented changes, Belgians have been given the chance to select their representative with a newly established selection format - BELfestival which attracted particular public attention. Acts willing to represent Belgium in Luxembourg had time to prepare their songs, as the deadline was set for 26 April. Two days later, the shortlist consisting of eleven lucky entrants who met our broadcasters' conditions was announced. Juries were able to cast their votes for two weeks. The voting process guaranteed loads of excitement. In the last days the lead changed like in a kaleidoscope. However, the results are in and the lucky act who received the biggest amount of points can now be officially announced.

JOANE

Adrien Binon, also known as Joane is a Belgian-Filipino pop artist currently residing in Charleroi. Adrien was drawn to the artistic world from an early age. He has always loved to sing and dance. Binon even decided to set up his own band - Rising Sparks. The group disbanded in 2016 and that's the year when a solo project started to take shape in the mind of Adrien. Shortly after that Joane was born.

Why this name? It's a combination of words between my neighbor Johan and my cousin Joan. I claim to be non-binary, that is to say that I consider myself to be between the masculine and feminine gender, or rather a “mixture” of the two.

Joane's North Vision entry, "Tête haute" (Head held high) serves as an artistic manifesto. The approach is well emphasized in the music video shot for the contest. It pictures the story of a perilous journey and discovering oneself. The culmination of several years of work resulted in releasing this hymn to self-confidence.

Since I was a kid, I have always felt like a stranger. My look, my voice, my Filipino origins of my mother and Belgian of my father - all these factors made me miss several castings because I used to be judged too swarthy by some. Joane allows me to become someone I always wanted to be portrayed as. I wish to create a space without style barriers, without labels. That's the message I want to spread across the world during my stay in Luxembourg.

THE UNITED KINGDOM CHOSE ITS ENTRANT!
RHODES WINS NORTHVISION: YOUR DECISION 32

London – This evening the UK public and an international jury chose the British representative for NVSC 32. With 2264 points RHODES won the selection "Northvision: Your Decision". His song "Love You Sober" placed 2nd in both votings. He therefore recevied 82 points more than the runner-up Celeste (Stop this Flame). Mai Kino and her song "Talk" placed 3rd with 2143 points. It was a close run but after all more people preferred "Love You Sober".

32 year-old David Rhodes is an English musician from Hitchin. He made his debut in 2013 with his EP "Raise Your Love". His biggest success was a duet with British singer Birdy (Let It All Go).

Speaking about the song "Love You Sober", RHODES said:

“I wrote ‘Love You Sober’ last year with my good friend Rich Cooper and it was one of those songs that I always knew the video would be super-important. The idea that I was lost in my own head battling these inner demons, and fighting to find a way to keep hold of love, was conjuring tons of ideas in my mind and those of everyone involved in the song.”

Several music blogs describe the song as "soaring".

Festival Ibérico has found a Spanish winner AGAIN!

Madrid, Spain

After a tense regional selection of Spain and Portugal lasting over 5 weeks, a winner has been found in the Spanish capital. Mala Rodriguez wins Festival Ibérico again with 99 points in total again.

Mala managed to take the crown after coming second at the jury voting, receiving 52 points, twice 12 points from the Moldovan and Russian jury, the juries who ranked Mala and her song "Aguante" the highest of all judges. The televoting section followed where she obtained the second place again within the televoting. All together being enough to fully rise to the top securing the first place for herself, staying in front of the Spanish/Portuguese/Brazilian Dianna the runner-up of the show and the Portuguese representative for the thirty-second edition of the North Vision Song Contest.

RTVE and RTP held a press conference for the Spanish and Portuguese representatives right after the show, where press and fans could ask questions to the Portuguese and Spanish Head of Delegation and the artists they are taking along to Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. Right before the actual press conference Mala gave the following statement:

"I won again, I truly cannot believe it. I am in disbelief. I want to thank the Iberian audience and International public for giving me a second chance, after last edition's drama. I cannot wait to make you all proud in Luxembourg. WE DID IT!"

DIANNA WILL REPRESENT PORTUGAL FOR THE SECOND TIME!

Today, the results of the Iberian selection (Festival Ibérico) were announced, in which the Portuguese entry with the highest score (second with 95 points) was "Como Antes" by DIANNA.

DIANNA "COMO ANTES"

Born in Portugal to a Portuguese-Spanish-Brazilian family, DIANNA grew up among two languages and cultures, Portuguese and Spanish. Adulthood brought her to Lisbon, Portugal's capital, to chase after the music dream. After an intensive casting, she was chosen for a band that turned to be the biggest girl band in Portugal.

DIANNA also represented Portugal in the 23rd edition of the North Vision Song Contest with the song "Aguentar", ending 14th in the semi-final.

This edition she will be representing the country with "Como Antes", a reggaeton and hip-hop fusion song produced by Dímelo Brasa, a Grammy-nominated Dominican producer who has worked for several international artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Becky G, Bad Bunny, J Balvin and Anitta.
